Missing miles... where are they?

Having flown EK quite a bit now, I am very used to miles posting within 24 ours of my trip completion. However, lately, miles are either posting within 24 hours or not at all, and the "not at all" is happening with quite a bit more frequency.

My first missing miles was on a MLE -> CMB F one-way ticket. I waited a few weeks before I e-mailed EK through the missing miles link on their website. Several weeks later one of my SEA -> DXB -> NBO legs wasn't posting miles, even though the following NBO -> DXB -> SEA legs were.

While I had EK on the phone to deal with some other issues I mentioned the missing mileage from MLE that was a month ago, and the latest missing SEA->NBO miles. I told them I emailed via the web-link with no response. They told me I should e-mail them at: [email protected], which turns out to by Skywards in Mumbai.

After emailing Mumbai they quickly posted all of the missing miles, so that e-mail is key to getting quick resolution.

Over the past 7 days I just got finished with a SFO->DXB->NBO flight in J, an NBO->DXB->CAI in Y, and a CAI->DXB->SEA in F. All separate tickets and PNRs, and none of the milage for any of these legs have posted, and it has been between 3 and 6 days since those flights were travelled. And, since it has been over 24 hours I doubt any of these will post on their own, I will have to e-mali Mumbai again.

Has anybody else had inconsistent posting of miles?

My miles usually post about 72 hours after the flight when departing from any point in Africa. When departing North America, Dubai, Asia or Europe, the miles are usually posted within 24 hours.

The system is supposed to credit within 8-hrs of the flight (not sure if that is departure or arrival) but it was quoted to me by someone in Dubai. Maybe I was drinking heavily when they told me.

Ninety-five per cent of the time, my miles post quickly (within the 8-hrs). But the last couple of trips - they haven't but it was quickly sorted out with a ph call to Dubai and they posted immediately...

I'm too impatient to wait for the silly online missing miles tool...

Like some possessed lunatic I continually check my mileage balance to see if the miles posted. I, too, am impatient, and I have called EK in the past to sort it out but they tell me to e-mail. How do you get them to sort it out over the phone?

Same issue here. Whenever I call Skywards, they tell me to use the online claim form or else to email.

Email takes up to 6 months to get a response at times, but I always get the miles in the end.

I've just had the same experience.

Miles for LHR-JNB appeared after the usual interval, but JNB-LHR still to post 5days later. When I tried the "claim missing miles" doobry on the Skywards website, it told me my ticket number was invalid!

Have tried to email route, but will call if I havent heard back after a week (I'm not generally a fan of calling in. I spend half the call trying to decipher what has just been said over background noise. Think my ears are on the way out. Too much loud music.)

Next time you pass through DXB, just drop by Skywards' desk at J or F lounges (make sure you have your tickets and boarding passes). They should be able to do it for you on the spot (saving you time on the phone/ writing the email). Lounge time is always down time so here's a better use for it

Why do you need to call or email them? If you go to the missing miles tool 24 hours after your flight and enter the details, the miles post instantaneously. No need to waste time calling/ writing to them.

Except that they don't post instantaneously...my last 2 flights haven't posted, used the online tool, still no joy, so I called. Was fixed on the phone immediately.

Strange, first time I've heard of that happening. Usually been instant, though one wonders why miles aren't posting in the first place.

The missing miles tool doesn't work at least half the time. The usual error message is that "Ticket number is invalid".

When you call Skywards, they tell you to try the missing miles tool again, otherwise to email. It is very rare (only once in my experience) that they will actually handle a missing mileage issue over the telephone.

Email responses to missing miles issues can take anywhere from 5 days to 6 months to process.
