Update
Got an upgrade offer for MAN-DXB earlier this week.
Background:
Return MAN-DXB trip booked as economy flex out and business flex return.
Single traveller.
Skywards Gold.
History of taking previous upgrade offers.
Flight looked wide open among all 3 classes somewhat unusually, but Tuesday is probably the deadest day of the week leaving UK…..
Offer received just prior to departure minus 72 hours, available for 24 hours only…..
£683.
Took it, as still a substantial saving on actually booking it originally.
Incredibly loads were:
F2/14
J26/76
Y 100 off full
Great flight, no shortage of food, drinks or personal service.

can respond to my own post 
No emails prior to online check in. and, much to my disappointment, the only option to upgrade to business was with miles (and most of my travel the past few years was westbound so loads of Virgin Atlantic points but nothing with EK). there was no cash upgrade option. Will try my luck at the airport tomorrow but not holding out much hope.
