When I was 13, I used to use my parents miles to upgrade myself leaving my poor sisters in Y. I was deemed a horrible child and am told (till today) that my sister are 'scarred' by being left in Y. Truth be told they have no recollection but I still strongly remember the flights in J.

My strategy was to ask for the miles when my parents were very distracted so that they'd say yes to get rid of me.

I found ung1! Lol. EK told me "south african voyager miles can only be redeemed within south African airways and not thru EK or any other carrier besides Mango or south African express" which r both domestic airlines in sa. I live in south Africa so I may be able to upgrade the domestic flight!! Lol 35 mins of J then 17 hours of Y
and scroll down to non partner award chart. Emirates is listed along with the mileage levels.
