Hi MT_Switch
It’s been a few years since I’ve transited through SIN but as far as I’m aware, the procedure hasn’t changed much. When you disembark, you should be given a transit boarding pass and you will go in to the departures area. You will then re-clear security at the gate before boarding for the onward leg.
No immigration, customs or re-checking in should be required.

Having flown EK404/405 dozens of times, myexperience has been that the aircraft mostly parks at C22 or C22, and it is 2 or 3 travellator to the right as you exit into the terminal. Look for the signs to lounges. The EK lounge is up one escalator after a short walk from the final travellator.

Ok so reporting back for future reference on DXB-SIN-MEL. Deplaning seemed was at C23/C24, with passengers exiting the plane onto the arrivals level being the same level as the departures (unlike some airports where arrivals and departures are lead from/to separate levels), therefore it is possible to directly go to the Emirates lounge if arrivals was on time. There is no formal transit area for re-check in, keep the original boarding pass and in my case, was directed to go to gate C25/C26 right next door for security check, which seemed was at the end of the terminal and therefore easy to be cordoned off for the usual x-ray and passport check.

In my case, a couple of days later: arrival gate was 25. It's a long walk to the lounge, but very well signposted. The lounge agents knew that the departure will be delayed. The lounge is nice but nothing special. No additional security check was required.
