Glasgow (GLA) Route

Anyone notice the increase in no's travelling in this sector? Last 6-8 months has been pretty hectic.

Will we see a second flight to/from GLA this year?

Travel this route at least twice per month and I've not seen more than 5 spare seats since early 2010.

The second flight has been talked about for a while; apparently it will be a 3 days / week schedule, not sure about timings. There were rumours previously about a new EDI route too.

When this route kicked off, it was a given that you would get a good few seats beside you to relax on. But as of recent, its been hectic.

I am having to fly to Newcastle as Glasgow flights are fully booked for an entire month - or atleast the class i'm designated on. Not a happy bunny as the Newcastle flight is not only 2-3 hour car journey to Glasgow but also the fact that the aircraft is an older one ;(

Would love if Glasgow got a 2nd flight - be it 3 times or 2 times. I doubt Edinburgh would get EK allowance - it would be Qatar or Etihad as Abu Dhabi has helped the Edinburgh council with a few projects and vice versa. Would I like if Emirates got the contract for EDI - for sure, but I have my doubts ;(

Whilst Glasgow did get launch aid for the EK route, it disappeared quickly and was apparently illegal. I am pretty sure that Edinburgh Council would have no say in the matter of who flies to EDI airport. Could be wrong though but I thought it was up to the airport operator to attract airlines really and that is more likely when either Glasgow or Edinburgh is sold as per the regulatory requirement of BAA.

Oh - and remember that however underused it was, the PIA flight from GLA to Pakistan via DXB has been no longer for a while now - that will have pushed numbers up I am sure.
