Flight upgrade EK0127

Hi team,

I am flying in May from SYD to VIE in economy and would like to upgrade the leg from DXB to VIE to business. On the skywards page I get a 'no flights available in higher class'. Is it likely that there will be availability closer to the fligt dates?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Maki

Welcome to FT and the EK forum!

Re your upgrade, here's what I would do.

Open a trial account on ExpertFlyer and then set up an upgrade seat alert for the flights you want ie EK127. You might find out that EK wont be able to clear the upgrade until you actually get to DXB. You might also enquire about catching EK125, which is an Airbus 345 (has 2 more J seats, but they're the old config). It means your layover in DXB would be a lot longer, but you could then wait in the lounge.

It's fairly typical of EK not to have upgrade inventory this far out - you'll find seats open up much closer to the date (which is a little stressful for you).

The other thing EF will be able to show you is average load leading up to the flight(s) you want - so you can see what your chances might be like.

Good luck. Let us know how you go...

Hi eightblack & team,

upgrade availability opened yesterday, approx 1 month before the flight.
Upgrade cleared and seat secured
Thank you for the suggestion for EK125, but this time I am sticking to EK127.
WIth this option think I will still be able to pop into the lounge

Thank you once again.

Cheers
Maki

Really? How do you see historical data other than the average delay?

I think he meant you can track it over time to get an idea of what is happening.

Unlike the MYB function on the EK website, EF lets you see the GDS data across all classes (ie F/J/Y) so it provides you an indication (albeit it a very approximate one) of load.
