Seq No 436 on a 2 class B777-300ER the other week after checking in on-line as soon as it opened.

There aren't even 436 seats on the aircraft.

If it is any number other than 1 then it stands to reason you have flown before and hence "welcome back".
It turns out they're supposed to greet everyone by name, and they welcome you back if they see a Skywards number on the boarding pass. Which is why seq no has nothing to do with this.

I'd guess it's more to do with every change made on that flight. So all seq nos. wouldn't be assigned if, say, you first chose a seat/ flight then changed to another day.

I think that going by the previous posts on this thread we can say that is incorrect.

I don't think the Skywards number is printed on the short stub of the boarding pass. I don't have a tag on my bag as well. Oh well, the mystery remains...

Sywards number appears in small font at bottom of ticket stubs but status does not.

This may change depending on where your boarding card is issued.

When I asked @DXB, was told it is the order of bookings on that flight. However, I have had sequence numbers with 4xx and 5xx on 777s

How can A330 OLCI sequence be 362 ??

Hi Folks,

I did OLCI for a flight.. It was on A330-200 and the olci sequence showed 362 .. I thought the flight must be terribly full and so either very good op - up chances or they will do a equipment change ..
But when I went in the flight, it was lot of seats empty ( atleast 30-40 in Y) in the same aircraft A330-200 ??
Has anyone else experienced something like this ?

No-one seems to know what the sequence number on a BP really means. A thread on it recently here:

I had something like this on a 777 from SIN last week. What it meant (for me at least) was an op up to bus class.

Wow lucky you. I really doubt this means an op up though. You must be GO I guess, that's the reason!

This doesnt seem to be the case.. I booked quite late on a flight ( since when I went to pre-select seats, most were full).. Then I did OLCI as soon as it opened and my sequence was 2..

From my experience with all airlines till now this has been the case except the last trip on EK when I got a sequence nos in 365 or something on a A330-200..

hmmm.. I checked my last bp stub and the last digit in the e-tckt no is 21-1.. but I have flown them more than once ..
AFAIK, the last no 1-4 denotes the coupon no from the e-ticket .. i checked my last 2 bps .. xxx - dxb was coupon no 1 and dxb - xxx coupon 2 in the e/tckt and the same reflected in the BP as the last digits respectively..
They say welcome back if they see the skywards no in the BP IMO..
