True, how could I of missed that.

The article is actually well worded because year end it won't be the second busiest international airport. Basically traffic in November will have more traffic, and hopefully every month after that until it catches up to Heathrow in 2015.

With such rapid growth, why are they holding back the opening of Jebel Ali Airport? Doesn't it make sense to let some of the smaller, lesser known, non-alliance carriers operate out of there, even if it means poor connectivity? Or is DXB really not bursting at the seams, and only crowded because of EK's business model?

As an aside, I'm surprised DXB overtook HKG, CDG etc at one go, but it'll take years for it to top LHR!

I noticed today that Terminals 1 and 3 already have a lot of the signage in place for when the new concourse is ready. Gates 301 - 360 IIRC.

This pic was taken last week by Face81. As you can see this side should be finished in a month, or so. Once the concourse is sealed off from the harsh climate out side, it can start climate control inside for the best possible finish of the interior fittings.

Looks like China isn't going to give DWC the glory of being the largest status.

Excellent! I'm glad hear it. Best of luck to EK will shifting some A380 to new midfield concourse 3. DXB should be consider it done for now.

Still don't understand how the airport can grow the number of passengers to the projected goal with only two runways, especially given the A380 being too wide to allow independent runway control.

We can officially say concourse three is practically closed off.

Thanks Equario.
