Just flew EK A345 in first class to Delhi back and forth and I have to admit it is a wonderful plane with very quite engines and very smooth cruising and I think EK should keep these birds and deploy them to many other destinations.

Again frequent flyers care about comfort while while execs care about fuel efficiency with the rising cost of fuel.
This from an old airliners.net post:
Quoting DfwRevolution:
To expand on what Seanp11 has stated, the A345 is about 16,000 kg heavier in terms of structural weight. Payload greatly favors the 777-200LR
772LR OEW - 154,090 kg
A345 OEW - 170,400 kg (+10% dead weight)
772LR max payload - 64,000 kg
A345 max payload - 56,500 kg (-12% payload)
772LR fuel volume - 181,200 Liters
A345 fuel volume - 213,100 Liters (+17% fuel)
772LR max range - 17,400 km
A345 max range - 16,020 km (-6% range)
In summary, the A345 needs 17% more fuel to move 12% less payload 6% a shorter distance than the 772LR. How impressive...
http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo...d.main/289400/
And also... the 77L is 3% more fuel efficient than the 77E. In short comparing same payload/range EK can move more passengers, uplift more cargo AND AT A 20% LOWER OPERATING COST with the 77L than the A345.
In today's world it's all about fuel efficiency (yes even EK in the Middle East...).

No, not really on this side of the discussion. TG used the A340-500s for LAX-BKK and EWR-BKK nonstop flights. They also had a LAX-NRT-BKK route using 747-400s or 777-300ERs on that route. Today, out of these routes, TG only operates the LAX-BKK route. LAX-NRT services are now *A codeshare. TG probably wanted to sell the A340-500 at the time because they no longer operate EWR-BKK and probably want more capacity to serve LAX because they now have only one nonstop route to the US. IMO, that had nothing to do with the aircraft type. Secondly, TG operates 11 different aircraft types, including the A300. How many airlines today are flying A300s? Frankly, TG can pick a flavor of the day with the number of their fleet types and have a fire sale. So happens their flavor of the day was the 345s when they shut down the EWR-BKK route.

From a pilots perspective comparing flightplans on a typical DXB-JFK.
B777300er Will take 100 more passengers and 10 tons more cargo, and fly approx 20 minutes faster.
The 345 cant be sold because noone wants them so were using them on shorter flights where the inefficiencies doesnt make such huge difference.
Regards 777pilot

Can someone list all routes currently operated by A345? I know aircraft types are changed in line with demand / capacity control regulations. However I find EK to be much more consistent with equipment types. I had booked a trip with EK 6 months in advance. The aircraft type showed was A330-200 except on the day I had booked, on which it was shown to be 777-200. When I went to airport, it was indeed 772. That was as predicted 6 months ago. Impressive!
Now back to my original question. Which are all the routes operated by A345. Let me start to list.
1. DXB-DAR
2. DXB-SEZ
3. DXB-DEL
4. DXB-TIP

That pretty much sums up how the mighty 300ER ended the career of the A340-500 in EK as a long-hauler! Cant beat the bare facts how great the 300ER is performance wise.
Off topic question, do you normally stick to 1 subtype of the 777, or otherwise when working for EK?
Thanks 777pilot, looking forward to more of your inside knowledge!
