Seat Reservation Advice Please
Hi still new to all this, and never flown Emirates before.
We fly BHX-DXB-MLE on the 6th/7th Feb, and return 2 weeks later. Our agent has booked the following seats on our behalf
BHX-DXB 6 A&B
DXB-MLE 11 A&B
MLE-DXB 10 A&B
DXB-BHX 1 J&K
I read on here that row 6 (2 class), and row 11 (3 class) are not very good seats, I'm assuming the others are OK. So what are the chances of these being changed during on line check in, or at the airport, or should I just stick with what I've got.
As I've said never flown EK before, and only just joined Skywards, so no status as yet.
Any advice would be appreciated

Welcome to FT. And welcome to the EK Forum!
You've come to the right place. One of the best online tools for checking seats is www.seatguru.com
I personally wouldn't like 6A/B on your outbound, because you'll be close to the galley (they are the last row in J class). As far as I can see, you're on a 2-class 777 aircraft. I would stay with A/B but choose row 4.
On the DXB to MLE sector, you state that you're in seats 11 A&B, which is in Y? Is that correct?
As far as Y seats go, they're probably ok, however I always prefer exit rows. Or you may want to opt for the sets of 2 seats, which are row 46-48 (but they are right down the back).
I suppose the positive is that the DXB-MLE is only 4-hrs, so it won't be that bad.
Your return seats from DXB-BHX look fine. Good choice.
You should be able to access the seatmap via your booking reference number on the EK website, so you should be able to move the Y seats around - except for selecting exit rows (this has to be done at the airport).
Good luck. Let us know how you get on...

11 A&B is the last row of Business on a 3 class 77W. I'd look for something further up front.
As eightblack mentioned, you can go to manage a booking, enter your PNR and name, and do the seat selection.

eightblack thanks for the reply. All sectors are booked in J, I understand that row 11 in a 3 class 777 200 is the last row in J so probably a bit like row 6 in a 2 class 777 300.
Not sure I can access the system using my booking reference as I only have the Kuoni reference, so I assumed that I have to wait for online check in to open before I can change the seats. Is this correct or do you know of another way.

They should be able to give you the EK locator/PNR. If not, call EK direct, tell them the dates of travel and they will provide it.
Also, you might find it buried on the printed itinerary that Kuoni provides.
Sorry for not realising that you were in J all the way. I assumed that you were on the quicker connection out of DXB to MLE (ie the 658 and not the 652).

Thanks
Thanks for all your help, been onto Emirates and got the reference. Accessed booking manager, and as my wife wants a window seat it seems that we are stuck with what we've been given as all other seats are showing as not available. Or am I being naive??

Well seats are sometimes blocked off, and with Business Class especially, people change their travel dates often, so these seats might open up. If it's a big deal, sign up for Expertflyer where you can set up an alert for the seats you want. When these become available you can change them online.

Strangely enough I actually like being on row 6 (2 class), almost always choose that row if I'm on the old planes with the big comfy chairs (not flat). I like the added bonus of having no-one behind me.
Can't say I've never had any hinderance of annoyance by being so close to the galley either.

Hi, apologies for crashing in, but similar topic from another newbie. I am flying the bhx x dxb 13.25 (EK40) departure and returning on the 14.55 (EK37) dxb x bhx.
The flight information states the aircraft will be B777 300 er two class, however I believe that I have read on a forum that emirates sometimes use a three class aircraft and allow J class passengers to reserve the first class seats but receive J class service. Can any one confirm this? Thanks in anticipation

I have booked our preferred seats on all of our flights and was wondering if these are definitely ours or not until we check in? Also is it better to check in online or get to the airport early to make sure all of our seats on all legs are booked correctly...........I am just worried as I have read alot of stories on here about people being moved or not getting the seats they booked. Thanks
