Flying family on my status
I am Skywards Gold. I will be getting a Y revenue ticket for my wife to travel BLR-JFK return. She is not a Skywards member. Is there a way that I could a. Get lounge access for my wife on my status b. have the miles credited to my Skywards account?
Thanks.
Edited: I will not be traveling with her on this trip.

No lounge access if you aren't flying with her (that would allow you to guest her in).
You can add her as a family member, but this will only give you 20% of her miles. So unless she won't fly EK again in 3 years, not worth it. Even if that is the case, BLR-JFK on a flex fare will earn her about 13,500 miles. You can easily purchase the difference required for an upgrade. Not cost effective if you plan to use the miles for a Y redemption though.

And I guess, your response implicitly means that not adding her as a family member on my Skywards account does not entitle me to any points even if I pay for the ticket?

Yea, miles are earned for flying, not for paying for the ticket. Otherwise most people's miles would be going to their companies.

I have no problem with card status for FF giving upgrades/benefits but if my company kept the miles and used them for charity or similar good causes I would have no problem whatsoever.
They paid for them & should have the miles but if they allow the employees to have the benefit of them, we should be taxed on that benefit.
Business flying can be a drag but if you are in the right class of travel, with lounge access, that should be sufficient - why should you have foc miles as well?
