Bye Bye EAA, EAB
This is exactly the kind of news I hear from LY, that at the end always get postpones.
Remember how many times they said they will stop flying the 742's with pax, before they actually did it?
BUT - I heard they plan on getting rid of the "older" 762 in the fleet soon. They will start with EAA and EAB will stop flying in Decemebr 2007, then try to get rid of EAC and EAD. I dont think they will get rid of EAC and EAD until they have more 763.
They also plan on getting rid of the 757 and get more 737's.
They plan on having a fleet of:
737
763 (or as rumoured A330,B787,350)
777
744
that means no 757 and no 762
but I am sure this is not the last we will hear of this.
IMAGINE how amazing a new LY would look if the management went crazy and got a lot of money pumped into them?????
They order:
748 - 4
772 hold on to their 777, maybe get 2 773ER (though unlikely since new engines GE)
787 - Ten a/c for now with option for 10 788 and 789 maybe later to change some 777 into 7810
737-8 and new order for 6 739ER

I know that Arkia are in the final stages of selling their 757-200 (BAZ) and are also trying to sell their 2 757-300 (BAU and BAW). Israir are also getting rid of their 757-200 now that they have the 2 A320s.
So far Arkia is the only Israeli carrier with firm orders of the 787.

I read that they are looking into getting embraer's and CRJ's.
2 with an option for two more. But Will that be instead of their 757 to Europe?
Arkia Airlines Ltd. is considering a $120 million investment to buy or lease four 70-100 seat jets with a range of 2,000 miles for flights to Cyprus and other regional destinations. The airline is examining CRJ 700 and CRJ 900 jets building by Canada’s Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD) and Embraer 170 and 175, built by Brazil’s Embraer-Empresa Brasileira De Aeronutica SA (NYSE:ERJ; Bovespa:EMBR3). Arkia initially plans to buy or lease two planes, followed by two more at a later date. These planes use short runways, which means that they can operate out of Tel Aviv’s Sde Dov Airport. Arkia is planning several flights per day, including to Cyprus, where it began to fly at the beginning of March

Maybe arkia will have a dream fleet of ...
Embraer 170/175
737-800/-900ER
789
748
at the end.
