Its a good thing that you told us from which city you are departing from, otherwise we wouldnt be able to Help you.

Get the idea? How can anyone tell you how it looks if they dont know the routing you are on, even the city isnt enough unless you also specify the flight# as LY has numerous flights some days out of the same city and from the NY area , flies out of both EWR & JFK.

Personally, 6/22 is No special day as the Holidays are over, and its still abit early for those going for the Summer to be heading over. Also its a Thurs which probably means if you or anyone else doesnt fly that the next flight will be Sat night. But one never knows.

I am not aware of any upgrade policy for being bumped off.
From my experience, they will offer you $ or a free ticket to use when ever you like valid for one year.
Then they will put you on a later flight.

apirchik, I believe the OP was referring to compensation given by LY for being bumped off a flight, not the normal UG offers given to Gold Platinum's (and Silver's too by the way) 24 hours before.

Ive known several people who have gotten a call from LY a few days before the flight date. In which they were offered $200 as a DBV if they would switch their flights as the flight they were booked on was way overbooked.

They declined and asked for more in the way of compensation, they werent any more. Some lucked out in that they were able to get a Bump at the Airport, others found out that no vols were needed at the Airport as enough had taken the offer.

Right now it seems there are 2 in Biz and 4 in coach still available. However LY has 4 flights on 6/22, 2 before yours and 1 after that all look the same.

Ill let those who fly LY alot expand on your chances.

[KVS Availability Tool 2.1.0/Gold - Apollo: ITN/CWT/US-CA]

Pleany of open seats in coach on this flight right now (classes H and U are still on sale) but it's still a month ahead and anything can happen in a month. If you get bumped to the next flight (within 4 hours) you will not get much in terms of $$$ or upgrade. If you don't fly on Thursday, your next chance will only be 2 days later as there are no flights on Friday (23rd).

Note that this flight is the no F cabin 744 when the whole lower deck is coach.

Looks to me like the flight is wide open, It might be full by next month but I dont think they will try to bump pax to other flights.
For example take a look at the flights a week after on the 29th there the situation is much worse.:
ONLY Q class and up are available.
LY 28 0 EWR 06/29/06 02:30PM F2 A2 C2 I4 D0 Z0 W0 Y4 S4 M4 Q4 B4 K0 H0 N0 G0

Yeah I'm booked on a flight TLV-JFK on June 30 and can't seem to move to a TLV-EWR flight due to capacity. 3 of the 4 tix are bonus so I'm fairly limited. The 29th, 30th and 1st will be the big loads as school in Israel doesn't end until June 30.

Would the KVS tool help me fish for availability of bonus seats?

The KVS tool is awesome - but it does NOT reliably show LY availability.

LY uses a proprietary "carmel" system. According to my travel agent, Carmel never shows the same inventories as Gallileo, Amadeus, Sabre or any of the industry standard rez systems.

Beyond that, LY regularly plays with the inventories on their flights. I once had to buy a Y ticket for a flight that was only available in Y on the morning of, only top find 57 empty seats on the plane when boarding. And it was a Sunday night 001 (busiest flight of the week TLV-NYC). A few no-shows - yeah - but 57? No way. They play all the time to get pax to pay higher fare buckets.

last july, two families we know (one with 5 pax, one with 4) flying TLV-JFK and continuing onward, were called a day or two before flight time and were asked to delay their flight. they accepted to fly a few days later and recieved a free future flight in exchange. lucky them.

The major travel agencies in Israel have pre-allocated seats on most LY flights to sell until the very last moment. While LY might show no availability, those travel agencies might have the missing seats.

The 1 main draw back to this is; if you Love to play the Bump game and you werent called , most likely you already Lost the Game even before you get to the Airport.

The Great part about it is; if you are lucky enough to get the call you dont have to drag yourself to the airport and go the whole waiting process and waste your time even if you do get the Bump at the Airport. As its already in the bag and no having to schelp to the Airport again & again.

However it also means No Double Dipping, which is when one not only gets Whatever the Carrier is offering but alot of times being put onto a different Carrier to get you to your destination. So LY bumps you and gives you a Free Tkt and puts you on say BA. So you get the credit for having flown LY although you didnt and you give BA your BA# and get credit with them as well.
