Silly question re TLV JFK flight times and JFK v EWR

I would like to take a very late flight back to NY to allow for ample sightseeing on our last day and see that flight 1 flies from TLV to JFK at 00:45. Let's say I want to sightsee all day Tuesday and want to leave very late Tuesday night. Do I purchase the 00:45 LY 1 ticket for Wednesday? As in, this leaves at Wednesday at 12:45AM?
Thanks!

Not a silly question at all. Many have made that mistake and bought for Tuesday, thinking of the 00:45 flight as Tuesday night. I myself once made that mistake, though thankfully caught it when the reservation was emailed to me and managed to quickly cancel it.

BTW, I've heard that's why the DL flight TLV-JFK, for a long time at least, departs at 23:59.

I'm a big fan of the westbound redeyes to north america. Nice being able to drug oneself to sleep and wake up in the morning than stay awake wasting the whole day....

Agreeing, but since my body clock says nighttime, I just go to sleep. No need for any drugs!

The flight times are to short from Europe / would make those flight arrive in the middle of the night in NA which wouldn't make sense either
