LY312 from LTN today didn't get very far, and landed at LHR after suspected door failure.

LY82 BKK-TLV last night (767) went tech on the ground, and all passengers are stranded in Bangkok for Shabbat.

And speaking of which; does anyone knows what was the story with LY81 last night? It took off more or less on schedule (a 744, 4X-ELH) started flying towards the south-east then turned back and hold over the Mediterranean (probably to dump fuel) and landed in TLV after some 90 minutes. After five hours on the ground the flight (with the same aircraft) took off again and reached BKK with a delay of 5 hours.

I don't envy the PAX

I thought ELE and ELH had the same layout (listed as 747 vs 744 in the timetables)?

When you see "747" with F and C downstairs, its ELE
When you see "747" without F and C downstairs its ELH
When you see "744" its one of ELA, ELB, ELC, ELD - identical seating layout

LY 027 flew 1:15 hour before turning around due to tech issue (landing gear apparently also a problem). Still haven't taken off again yet, though expected to soon

Report here: http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-4971016,00.html says that they left tyre pieces on the runway, detected by a new camera system from X-sight company which scans the runway.
(Hebrew)

I can't understand why they didn't continue - what difference does it make if you land with unknown tyre/gear damage at Ben Gurion or at JFK?

Repairs are cheaper for them at home.

But the cost of compensation to the passengers will more than make up for it.
