Here is a place that LY can be better then others.
I am sure that there not too many people that do it.

The guy is buying 5 C Class TKTs...
Ly will lose 700 points ?
1. i think it is logical not to get points for seats you do not sit in. otherwise people will take advantage of this in order to get status points.

2. if he is paying 5 C tix, obviously there isnt any money problem, so why is he so interested in the extra points ?
something sounds not right here.

Why should this be a problem?
If the passenger is paying the full amount for the seat and giving ELAL the revenue, why not let him have the status? (Elal should be earning here more then had he flown, as there is less weight, and less taxes).

So what if people just by the extra seat for status? That's perfect for LY...these people represent pure profit!

Most airline systems can barely function when assigning points from one seat to one passenger. I would be surprised if their software can even handle it for something else. Strikes me as a very rare occurrence, so I doubt they'd invest much effort in supporting it.

It should still always be able to be done manually when requested

Not necessarily true. Many systems won't let you manually do whatever you want, but need to be tied to some other record. You can't just go in and add x points.
