Who gets the points

A friend is flying from LAX to TLV and wants
to buy another seat next to him full fair.
He wants to get the points for both seats
LY says NO.
Why?

Liat?

I don't know about the points, but -
why not just buying business class?

BTW, if he wants to risk it he can always take advantage of the following offer:

This service only works if there are any seats available. From what I heard, the LAX flight is always a 772 and mostly goes out full in all classes, particularly during the high season.

2 y class cost less then 1 C class
(I think)

Not full fare like you mentioned in the OP. At least not when I last was a regular LY commuter.

FFPs only give points to the person who flies, not the person who pays. If you buy an additional empty seat, you didn't fly in it :)

He is flying C class anyway

2xC seats?!? He would better fly in F (which usually costs 1.5-2.5xC depending on the fare) and that way there is a good chance that the seat next to him will be free anyway... ;)

He is flying with his wife and 2 kids
He wants to block a row.

But lets try to go back to the OP
Why does LY dont let him get the points...
:)

Well, talk about the opportunity to double down and split in a game of mileage run blackjack. :D

Maybe they don't want people playing that game even more.

Hey Lior,
I think I know about your friend's query, I believe he also contacted us through FB. If it's who I think it is, he was explained by our representative why he can't earn miles/points for the extra seat (also, as you mentioned above, LY is not the only airline he won't be able to earn mile for that - besides the airlines you mentioned, AA does not give miles for that as well).

In any case, he wasn't happy with the answer he got and his query has been forwarded to the Matmid management.

Liat.

So where do this points go?
why are there airlines that gives them and others not?

Here is a place that LY can be better then others.
I am sure that there not too many people that do it.

The guy is buying 5 C Class TKTs...
Ly will lose 700 points ?

So why doesn't LY give the points?
