EasyJet Profits Climb Higher
UK low cost airline easyJet today unveiled a 50 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to GBP£40.1 million (USD56.5 million), its first results as a publicly quoted company.
The carrier, which saw revenues rise to nearly GBP£357 million and passenger numbers increase by 26 percent to 7.1 million, also announced a share issue to raise a further GBP£90 million to fund expansion in Europe.

BY ADAM SAGE IN PARIS AND RUSSELL HOTTEN IN LONDON
EASYJET, the low-cost airline, reacted angrily yesterday after it was largely frozen out of the lucrative but protected French market.
The company has ambitions to set up a base at Orly airport in Paris, but the French authorities have given the available take-off and landing slots to traditional airlines.
EasyJet is considering a legal challenge to the decision.
