Will never use Dollar again
Weekend trip LAX-IAD. I had to wait 30 mins at the IAD terminal for a Dollar shuttle to come along - each of the other rental companies had 3 go by or wait at the kerb. I think Dollar only had one bus.
And then when it came and it was full, we get to the lot, and there is only 1 person serving - so took another 25 minutes. Unbelievable - and this was a view shared by all waiting. Printers weren't working, etc... They knew they had so many reservations coming in, and only having one person serving (especially when they are all picked up at the same time) is ridiculous. The funny thing is there was a FASTLANE (in which no one waited) but with one person serving who would have served the FASTLANE.
I am in the process of writing to complain to Dollar - and bye bye Dollar - never again.

I'll never use again. At checkin, I was told I'd have a 30 minute wait to pick up my car. It took the shuttle 30 minutes to get me to the lot and I was expecting a long line but there was no line and many employees doing nothing. I found out they didn't have my car ready and it would take 30 minutes to get it ready.... <steam rising from my ears> After a short one-sided discussion, I was upgraded.
I was willing to forgive and forget after sending a brief letter to customer service. The response they gave me got me even more heated. I'm done with Dollar.

I had an experience with Dollar a years ago and never used them since. I booked a car online for a weekend (this was when they started the online booking). The rates they quoted me was $52.
Picked up the car and Attendant ask if I wanted to upgrade for an extra $6 a day. I did.
Upon returning the car, my receipt showed a whopping $192 total. I asked the attendant about it and he said I rented three days, $52 + $6 upgrade per day so total is $174 + tax/fees/etc. That's why the total for the rental was $192.
Turned out that the online price they quoted was for per day and not the total for the whole rental. Reread my online reservation and indeed it show an amount of $52 for per day and no amount for the total three days rental.
I complaint to Dollar charging them deceptive practice as I don't remember ever seeing other rental companies showing per day price when you booked online. They have always show the total for the whole rental plus tax. They sent me an apology letter but no credit as they said my contract clearly stated per day not per rental.
It only took one bad experience for me to take my business elsewhere.
