For me, I like almost any fish. The fresher the fish, and the simpler the preparation (often cooked on the bone) the better.
One notable exception is steamed (Chinese style) catfish. I never really seemed to like it.

Red Lobster has a great tilapia menu item (one of their best dishes), which consists of steaming in a paper bag filled with seasoning and veggies, then opened at the table. Brilliant dish as it takes zero cooking skill, isn't time sensitive and really imparts more flavour than steaming while having the health benefits, such as low fat. Anyone could do this at home, as long as you are holding a paper bag.

Good guess as to a previous bad experience, but not in Asia - in California, decades ago while on a Boy Scouts trip. I became ill after eating them, and have not had a desire to try them again. I don't have any (known) allergies, and loke most other fish and seafood.

Fave: Some strips of raw tuna marinated in something or other in a tiny Trattoria in the Dosoduro district of Venice.
Haddock deep fried in Batter with chips and curry sauce, washed down with a glass bottle of Irn Bru from the Gorgie Fish Bar in Edinburgh.
Worst: Any farmed Salmon or Trout.

Favorite (by far): Surubim AKA Pintada. I've only seen it in Brazil.
Also love: Wild trout, Steelhead, Haddock, Orange roughy, Sea scallops, Most crab, Lobster, and many others.
Dislike: Catfish, Farmed trout, Mackerel, Uni, Shark, Bacalao, and others I'm sure.
