My first and only PF Changs experience was at Planet Hollywood in Vegas (mainly due to the coupons we received from the casino). Good service and good vibe but terribly disappointing food -- and I did not go for "chinese" food. The food was extremely salty.... I believe I saw a story on TV one evening listing some of the most sodium laden foods and PF Changs was prominently featured for overdosing on the NaCL....

As such, I am not a fan and will not return.

Also Pei Wei only for me, not PF Changs. At Pei Wei, love the noodle dishes, where they will add extra mushrooms on request, the chicken salad, and sometimes, the lettuce wraps.

P.F. Changs is on my list of restaurants that are great if someone else is paying for you. The food is above average quality but the portions aren't as large as I feel the dollar amount dictates. We usually go in Thousand Oaks during corporate meetings and it's a great place to take my Mother to when I'm home. But for my dollar, I'll go to Pei Wei.

All I have to say is it's better than Panda Express.

meh. I've tried it, but it doesn't rate on my list of restaurants. I'd prefer that they don't call themselves a Chinese restaurant, because I actually like Chinese food. And PF Chang's isn't really a Chinese restaurant. More like a place serving Americanized food inspired by Chinese cuisine.

The earlier poster who compared it to Olive Garden hit the nail on the head.

However.

There is a PF Chang's in Sunnyvale, CA, whose redeeming characteristic is that for dessert they have local cherry pies. C.J. Olson's cherry pies, perfectly warmed and served with a dollop of ice cream. I'll go to PF Chang's and skip dinner, to get a slice of cherry pie.

(As a bonus, by skipping dinner I also get to skip the part where the waiter -- rarely of an Asian cultural background -- gets to [has to?] deliver a welcoming monologue that includes explaining how soy sauce and hot sauce can spice up Chinese food. The good part is that I'm Chinese.)

Chain usually found at malls with food coming from the steam tables. Not served by a panda, nor do they serve panda.

But they do serve sodium.

I've been a bunch of times, primarily for business lunches and the fact that my youngest nephew was addicted to their potstickers (now that we have found a better place for potstickers, he is no longer interested in Changs)

I do give credit to Changs in one area that is near and dear to me, they serve LAMB (woo-hoo^) I adore lamb, especially in ethnic preparations. I have always tried any lamb special that Changs has served and it was been very good to excellent.

I think Changs is a brainless way for folks to enjoy “Chinese” food, it is a nice atmosphere, food tends to be sweet, not too adventurous usually, so most folks are ok/pleased with it.

I agree with the adage to keep poking around until you find the local independent operator that puts the quality/taste of PF Chang’s dishes to shame. That may be a challenge for some depending upon where you live but if you live in any decent sized metropolis, keep looking beyond Changs.

Exactly my sentiments!!! I've had "real" mexican tacos in mexico, and I know TB is not "real tacos", but i like them per se.

PF Changs is very good for what it is - americanized asian food. they are NOT overpriced - the portions you get is very large. and it has the chain benefit of being very consistent.

overall, i like it.

What can I say, their lettuce wraps are the best
