Yes who could forget the Mr Whippy van in England

and Eddie Murphy's comedy routine about the ice cream man from Delirious

Travelers to Thailand and elsewhere in SE Asia will recognize the jingle of the ubiquitous Wall's ice cream cart.

I drove a Good Humor truck in Chicago one summer. It wasn't good. Low pay and an on-going chance of getting ripped-off. Did see a lot of the South Side I had never seen before. This was so long ago the truck did not have recorded music, just bells on a long metal hanging strip.

I was too young and dumb to know that the cops expected pay-offs from the ice cream man and ran into problems there.

But, I do love Good Humor bars even now.

And, I harbor a deep sympathy for the folks who go out to make a buck doing this.

Although, with the advent of the horrible recorded music instead of bells I think the damn things should be banned. At least the music.

We did not have the ice cream truck with the bars, but rather we had the italian ice truck who served italian ice and soft serve. I still love just the basic lemon ice

I loved nutty buddy cones and chocolate eclairs, especially on a hot day after playing outside when I was a youngster.

Any favorites out there? I like the choco taco, but it's a little steep at $3. For under $2, BV Jr #3 likes a sno-cone. Mrs BV will take a nutty buddy. Childhood faves were basic: popsicles in root beer or sky blue or the occasional banana fudgesicle.
Wow the Choco Taco is still around? They had that over 20 years ago when I was chasing Ice Cream trucks. Loved it!

... and cheaper than the ice cream truck. My local Wal*Mart has a freezer with single serve ice cream. Choco Taco is $1.
