I drove a Good Humor truck in Chicago one summer. It wasn't good. Low pay and an on-going chance of getting ripped-off. Did see a lot of the South Side I had never seen before. This was so long ago the truck did not have recorded music, just bells on a long metal hanging strip.
I was too young and dumb to know that the cops expected pay-offs from the ice cream man and ran into problems there.
But, I do love Good Humor bars even now.
And, I harbor a deep sympathy for the folks who go out to make a buck doing this.
Although, with the advent of the horrible recorded music instead of bells I think the damn things should be banned. At least the music.
