Bizarre Airplane Food

I did a quick search but was not able to find anything in this forum.

What is the most bizarre food you have eaten on a flight? It has to be something not customary to your home country.

While on a flight from NRT-ORD in August, I ate jellied snapping turtle on Japan Airlines. It was ok, id like to try it in an actual restaurant next time.

Bizarre and disgusting on Bmi C class ex TBS:

Cold glass noodles with generic green stringy veg, topped with cold generic white fish and lavished with a citrus sauce.

The WORST thing I've ever eaten on a plane, and quite possibly anywhere else.

From ICN-JFK on KE, I had my first ever olives. I thought olives were rotten grapes.

they are interesting, I am not sure I'd go so far as saying good on my palette, but I've tried them. I could see using them as a skewer for some shrimp or maybe an edible toothpick for some ceviche or something of this nature, but not sure they'd be strong(tensile strength, not odor or fishy, they got that down!) enough.

I enjoyed them so much, I asked my wife if I could have hers.

5 small vials of dark vinegar (to drink) on China Southern last year. I brought them home, but did not drink them.

Go for it. This is popular in China. Usually you get a small thin straw to suck out the contents of the vials. It is relatively sweet, not at all like "western" vinegar and (like so much in China) purports to provide "health giving properties"

balsamics (the real kind, long aged), and rice vinegars are both great to drink.

25 year balsamic on strawberries, ^

Lasagna on UA. SFO-SYD in C.

I had NO IDEA w.t.f. this stuff was. Luckily I had eaten before the flight, or I would have starved to death. The look on the F/As face who served it to me was priceless.

Oh, you meant "unusual" food? Well, this was plenty unusual. I'd never tasted bloody vomit topped with wax before.

I bet if you paired that with a nice cab, it would have been delicious

On my way to the French Polynesia onboard Air Tahiti Nui, they brought some seafood appetizers. Knowing that I was on my way to paradise and the ambiance of first class, I was feeling pretty good and really enjoyed these appetizers. I asked the other people around me what it all was. They were from CA and so I figured they knew better than a woman from MN. Well, they hd no idea. I am not much of a fish eater, but assumed that the people on board were mostly, if not all, Americans and it was a good safe bet that they wouldn't serve anything bizarre. Now I'm wondering exactly what it all was. Maybe it's better that I never know. It was really good though!

Mine had to be scrambled eggs (of unknown foul source) with peas and baked beans, with a small curdish cube on the side - on Dragonair from HKG-PEK! Yecch.
