I tried this, wasn't bad! It's kind of small but it's very fresh, I couldn't pick it up it was so hot.
Wouldn't that pass Jamie Oliver's fresh test? Fresher doesn't mean healthier Jamie! |

The more I think about it, the more reasonable it seems. Of course, you have to go with the grilled version to lose 10g of fat and all that breading, and you could also lose the sauce and substitute mustard (which is usually nearly calorie-free). As an added bonus, if your KFC is like most fast food joints, if you ask for a sandwich without sauce they will have to make you a new one as opposed to handing you one from under the heat lamp, so there is that, too. The actual chicken is fine, and the little bit of bacon - well, you have to indulge occasionally. And anyway, I eat a lot of bacon, and I'm okay. |

I'm willing to give this a shot. The idea of eating it (health wise) is a little more palatable when I go to/from KFC on my bicycle. In fact, I usually do that with all fast foods runs to help offset the idea of eating complete trash.

Grilled chicken from KFC just sounds gross (it just sounds like it would taste like dirt). They specialize in fried chicken (although not very well-I like Church's Chicken much better).
I'd probably try this sandwich with cheese only (no sauce or bacon) and one side grilled and one side fried - it would be less fat, more flavor and just the right amount of protein after exercise. I wish someone could do hamburgers this way - two less-greasy patties with the veggies in between, wrapped for clean handling. Atkins dieters must have died and gone to heaven when this sandwich was announced - of course if they eat too many of them, that's exactly what might happen. |

KFC (not) value for money
With the resurrection of a few older chicken threads, I thought I'd throw this out there and see if other countries have done this or does Pepsico think that Canada is the golden goose...
Back circa 2016 KFC (in Canada) cut the size of some of their chicken pieces differently (a chicken was cut up from 9 pieces to 12 pieces)... They kept their (already expensive for similarly sized pieces) prices the same. The claim was that Canadian farmers were growing their chickens bigger before delivery. Popeye's and the other smaller chains kept their pieces pretty big. (And Costco didn't change either). At the time, when I searched the internet, I could not find any other countries where this had happened. And when visiting other countries, I saw the prices being comparable (give or take a bit). I'm curious if anyone else has seen this in their own countries in recent memory? (For the record, I have not ordered any KFC since this happened, preferring to go to the other chains for the better value when I have the cravings) |
Over the years, I noticed that all of the chicken pieces sold in Canada were significantly smaller than the same pieces sold in the USA - however, ever since KFC Canada committed the most horrific crime of switching the neon green coleslaw of my childhood to that mayonnaise-y crap, I haven't been back there again.
