What's your favorite fair food?
 

Yes, I know fair food represents the fattiest, most cholesterol laden items in the world, but we all grew up with our favorites.

Funnel cake? Corn dogs? Elephant ears? Cotton Candy (candy floss for the brits)?

I loved Elephant ears as a kid, but I have grown out of that. Now my favorite is known as The Queen's Apples, served at our local Renaissance Festival. Slice a green apple (granny smith), cover it in homemade butter caramel, top with whipped cream and a cherry, yum!

I also love lemon Italian ices - they are perfect on a hot and humid day.

My husband loves the smoked turkey legs they often serve at ren fairs as well.

What are your old and new faves?

Elephant ears! I haven't had one in a few years though. Back home, the state fair always has a couple of days that are free to get it. My friend and I always go on those days just to get an elephant ear with apples on top and share it. Yum!

I only like the food that's served from a trailer. :D

My favorite is funnel cake! I LOVE it!!!

Just a good corn dog does it for me. Unfortunately these days, the corn dogs are either out of a box or sat around too long or both. It's hard to get a good, fresh, homemade corn dog these days.

Some of this stuff may be regional. Elephant ears? What are they?

I always go for the turkey legs. The Mrs. likes Indian Tacos (flatbread topped w/ beans, ground beef, salad) and briskit burritos.

Hard to find anymore, but a corn dog that's dipped in batter then deep fried before your eyes is #1 for me. #2 would be a standard corn dog. #3 would be good brat. #4 would be BBQ pork ribs.

Wow.
No one has mentioned deep-fried Twinkies.

Best dessert - Frozen chocolate-dipped banana on a stick!

Big, flat piece of dough with powdered sugar and your choice of toppings. You can get chocolate, fruits, etc
