I'm hoping one of you can help me with a gift I was hoping to buy today.
Yeah I know I shouldn't have waited til the last minute
I recently had one of the following two wines at Lupa in NYC.
Primitivo Del Salento ‘Majara’ Mille Una 2001
Primitivo Del Salento ‘Bacmione’ Mille Una 2004
afaik, Mario likes to serve wines that can be bought retail but so far I've yet to find these and his wine shop, Italian Wine Merchants don't list these on the store's web site and hasn't gotten back to me yet.
Can anyone tell me where in NYC I might find these or suggest something similar?
TIA

De Vino (https://www.de-vino.com/) has the Bacmione in stock.
When in doubt, you can usually use wine-searcher.com to search for specific wines.

primitivo is wonderful..it can be "large", i.e. intense, full flavored, ripe. the italian versions (it's made here in CA as well) can also have some acidity (adds "life", vibrant across the palate) which further enhances the sensory perception. i won't say much for pairings, to each their own on that, but i've enjoyed primitivo with everything from grilled salmon to hearty elk stew.
