Kiwi Fruit: skin or no skin?

I've always been told that there are a ton of nutrients in the skin of kiwi fruit, so I eat it.

How do you eat your kiwi? (Keep it PG. )

Heard it before "it's good for you, you gotta eat it..." BUT it's not that good for you to not enjoy it without the skin. It's like eating sour hair

When I was in AKL, I saw some varieties that weren't as hairy. Perhaps these would be okay to eat, but otherwise, I just peel them, and eat all the good stuff inside!

The only person I've ever seen eating the skin on a kiwi was a Kiwi (New Zealander) - they are really easy to peel using a sharp paring knife.

I either do that or else peel and slice it, depending on how I plan on eating it (alone, mixed with other fruits, etc.).

if you get the ones without all the fuzz on them, eating the skin isnt that bad..but i still prefer to just scoop out the flesh

Surprisingly, the hairy skin doesn't taste nor feel that bad in your mouth.

There's nothing I want less in my mouth than a hairy fruit!

I actually own 2 genuine kiwi tools. They're bright green plastic with a serrated edge on one end and a spoon on the other. They were distributed by an American Kiwi Growers Assn and given to me by a coworker. I think their origin proves how a kiwi is meant to eaten (at least in the US).

I don't generally eat the skin; but if I am in a hurry or don't have access to a spoon, I will eat it skin-on.

I, too, would have bad thoughts if I saw someone eating a kiwi with the skin on. I peel them and eat them, although I prefer other fruits. Strawberries, apples, grapes, watermelon and bananas and even the processed fruits, apple sauce or apple pie. Or grape juice . . .and if it counts I do drink wine . . .

I'll eat a kiwi fruit with the skin on when I eat an orange with the peel on. Yuck.
