Peppermint JoJos Sightings?

Last holiday season I discovered Peppermint JoJos - Trader Joe's version of Oreos with crushed up candy canes in the minty filling. Delicious!

I bought two boxes in Burbank, and loved them so much that I bought six more boxes closer to home in Maryland a couple of weeks later.

I even served them up on a silver platter on Christmas Eve surrounded by my homemade peppermint bark.

I don't know if it is a rational fear, but I am somewhat worried that I won't be able to get them this year.

So help a Flyertalker out, and please post your Peppermint JoJos sightings. I am willing to travel to procure my stash! TIA.

Might be a bad idea to admit that. We'll try not to hound you with too many questions. ;)

But yeah, I'd love to know the rough date at least of when these should turn up in the store. I completely missed them last year, they were apparently gone that quick....

WondRWomin Nov 7, 2007 1:23 pm

Oh, I'm eager to know this too! I bought a box last year, and when I went to get more, they were gone. Sigh.

UCBeau Nov 8, 2007 10:44 am

I have some good information that they're on the way, at least out here on the west coast. :)

stef Nov 8, 2007 12:30 pm

Score One for Trader Joe's East Coast

While I was reading this thread, I thought I should pick up the phone and call my local store in Towson, MD.

The woman that I talked to was very nice, and said that they were in stock, on the shelf and she has already eaten some. It was like she stuck a dagger thru my heart.

I pretty much threw away my lunch and raced down to buy 20 boxes. This year they are calling them Candy Cane Joe-Joe's and the boxes are red and white rather than pink and white.

As I was loading up my cart, another shopper became curious about them, picked them up, looked at the nutrition information, put them down and said "too many Weight Watcher's Points." Uuuuh, okay.

So the same shopper was behind me at check out and asked me how long all of those cookies will last me - as if I am eating them all?!? Uuuuh, okay.

I better start eating soon if I have 44,800 calories of Candy Cane goodness to consume!

bigguyinpasadena Nov 8, 2007 3:53 pm

:Stef you beat me to it!I just returnes from my favorite TJ's(Lake and Del Mar in Pasadena)They had just put them out today.
Boss told me to buy 10 boxes(plus one for myself :D)

UCBeau Nov 8, 2007 4:28 pm

They arrived at the La Jolla store on last night's truck :) I'm stoked.

BearX220 Nov 8, 2007 8:05 pm

They've been on the shelf at TJ's north of Seattle since about Nov. 5. We bought three boxes, but we're going back for 30 more. ^

CrazyOne Nov 8, 2007 9:33 pm

We have zilch so far, was there today. I wasn't in the mood to ask about it, we just got some of our other usual stuff anyway. Will check with them again soon. If everyone's going to go in and buy so many boxes, they'll be gone in no time. Did get to try the Double Rainbow pumpkin ice cream, wow, that stuff is good.

So lets see. If you are in for 33 boxes, and I have bought only 20 boxes, then I need to buy 14 boxes more to have more Candy Cane Joe-Joe's than you! ;)

So I have a degree in Journalism. Not math. Oh, and did I mention that I bought them with my United Mileage Plus Visa?

Thankfully we all know what a non-competitive bunch those Flyertalkers are! :D

UCBeau Nov 8, 2007 11:28 pm

How's this for competitive:
I work there

unlimited joe-joe's for me :D

stef Nov 8, 2007 11:40 pm

 Fine. Both you and that woman who told me earlier today that she has already eaten Joe-Joe's both strike a dagger thru my heart.

And for the record, I had them in my house for a little more than 10 hours before I tore into a box. And they were every bit as good as I remembered from last year.

Take that!

UCBeau Nov 9, 2007 1:13 am

Yep they were delicious...when I tasted them a few weeks ago :D

mmj3 Nov 9, 2007 11:39 am

FYI...peppermint JoJos taste AMAZING when dipped in chocolate. My sister brought some at Christmas and I couldn't stop eating them.

If only I lived in a decent city that had a TJs...

UCBeau Nov 9, 2007 12:00 pm

Shipping can be arranged :)

BearX220 Nov 9, 2007 11:11 pm

Mmm... I'm having some right now.

A little more news on Candy Cane Joe-Joe's (as they're officially called this year): my wife was told by our local TJ's manager that the TJ empire ordered every cookie possible from their supplier this year, but volume is about equal to last year. The problem is that there are more TJ's locations than last year, so each store gets less. Ours expects about 100 cases total, in two shipments. The manager said they should all be gone by December 1. Sooner if posts like this spark a buying panic.

I grew up in SoCal but am now deprived of TJs here in Denver. And of course, my regular work flights are also to TJ-free zones. :td:

Mmm... thinking of chocolate covered orange and raspberry sticks. I need to set up some shipping from my family members still in Cali.

TrueBlueFlyer Nov 10, 2007 5:12 pm

reading this thread I'm starting to crave these jo-jo's...

i saw a trader joes in vegas last week and told a buddy of mine we don't have them here... well it turns out there are quite a few in bergen county alone, so I'm sneaking out of work now to pick up some snacks.

thanks for the suggestions!

I did...we'll see. Fortunately, I'm moving to a real city soon. :)

bigguyinpasadena Nov 11, 2007 8:40 am

Ahhhh-but then you will miss the "meat and 3's"!

UCBeau Nov 13, 2007 11:01 am

we opened a box last night at work and everyone agreed they were better than last year's batch.

krobbins Nov 13, 2007 11:08 am

UCBeau - How do we arrange shipping? I looked at the TJ website it says that you can't order online.

UCBeau Nov 13, 2007 11:25 am

I meant through me :) I can always go buy some and ship them to anyone who'd like them.

krobbins Nov 13, 2007 11:27 am

Aren't you a good person??!! Check PM in a minute or two...

krobbins Nov 29, 2007 11:09 am

Mmm Mmm good. My 18 boxes arrived about 20 minutes ago (thanks UCBeau!) and my office has already snarfed down two of them. They are so yummy. Double time on the treadmill tonight...

CrazyOne Nov 29, 2007 11:37 am

I went to TJ's here a couple nights ago and they still had the Candy Cane JoJos. Got a few boxes. Not bad, really, although I think a bit overhyped by some. ;)

A few weeks back, the Sunset Road TJ's was pushing JoJo's and I had no idea of the craze, so I passed. So... I made a mistake? I did have more than my share of Perfectly Pumpkin ice cream, however.

to anyone else seeking them, i have lots available, feel free to PM me if you have any questions :)

skye1 Dec 9, 2007 1:37 pm

Pretty much EVERY cubicle in my office (and it's a pretty big cube farm) has a box of these on their counters...and we're going thru several boxes a day. Wow, these are good!!! Dangerously addicting. Stopped by my local trader joe's last night, and they said they can't keep them stocked up fast enough, they're going so fast!

Rejuvenated Dec 11, 2007 1:14 am

Hmmm.........I can definately call by brother in L.A. He shops at Trader Joe's very often. Would ask him to check out if they are still stocking them.

If you're ever on this side of town, the Summerlin store had them a couple as of days ago. Tasty.

flyerwife Dec 11, 2007 7:10 pm

An elderly neighbor just gifted a box of these to me as a thank you for taking in her mail for a few days (she broke her arm while visiting relatives in NJ over Thanksgiving).

At first bite, I immediately thought they were reminiscent of Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies.....yum. But after I finished the second cookie, they no longer tasted that good. (Maybe it was the Diet Pepsi I was drinking along with them??)

krobbins Dec 12, 2007 6:16 am

Flyerwife - I would definitely say that the diet pepsi was the problem. There are only two (well, maybe more than two, but these are the definitive two!) ways to eat these - with milk (purists love this) and crumbled over ice cream. Vanilla, chocolate and peppermint work well for this. My daughter also likes to put hershey's syrup on top of the whole concoction. I suppose you could just dip in the syrup too.

mmj3 Dec 13, 2007 11:03 am

Had my first JoJos of the season...met up with my sister who took the liberty of covering them in dark chocolate. mmmmmmmmmm...I forgot how good they were. Wish I had a TJs...but then it's probably better that I don't. :)

TrueBlueFlyer Dec 13, 2007 8:21 pm

smothered in chocolate, eh?

Ack. Syrup?

I love the filling of these things, but the cookie is not as good as hydrox.

krobbins Dec 14, 2007 10:59 am

Hershey's syrup, not Log Cabin. :p
