curious if the scar on the woman's arm has ever been discussed, it is a HUGE one.

Back to topic, I don't know who I'm pulling for at this time.

I saw an interview w/ Padma once. Apparently she was in a car accident w/ her mom and she did the "soccer mom save" which saved her mom from serious injury but caused the scar.

Back OT-Howie is a tool.

Oops, did I say that already?

I got hooked on this show during my recent trip to NY. I, too, found Hung to be very conceited. It was always the guest chef that did not understand the true meaning of the dish Hung was trying to create. If I remember correctly, Hung had some choice words for Alfred Portale...a celebrity chef for Singapore Airlines.

Exactly.. Same here; I find it interesting that Hung never seems to believe anything is wrong with his dish/es other than "you don't get what I'm trying to do," or "you just don't get what I'm trying to do" ... I mean I understand u are an excellent chef and all but comeon'..

Well, the figures speak for Hung (whether he cares to agree or not): out of 7 episodes so far Hung has only won 1 quick-fire challenge and hasn't won a single elimination challenge.

Hung gets on my nerves. "Common people"? No, they were looking for something that tastes good. Sure "anyone" can do berries, but there's a reason. You can make something wild and out there, but if it's nasty, it's nasty. That's really all there is to it.

How tall is CJ? He was towering over his entire team at the panel!

I miss Lia. I thought her departure was too premature.

Not asking who the two finalist are, but care to share how it is you know the outcome?

Which makes it pretty obvious Hung is being kept around just for ratings. That isn't unique to Top Chef though. Remember Santino from season two of Project Runway?

But why? at the risk of being flamed, he is not that cute. Certainly his arrogance precludes that. let us not forget the "La Munda..." episode...I think Hung had immunity there...that was quite a performance. Is CJ still there? Also, Sara, there were two, but I am referring to the Taiwanese female, born and raised in Los Angeles, not that that makes any difference, I think she had a lot of potential...also the sous chef from the NY restaurant...I think she was robbed. I was pleased, however, to see 'Mikah' "packing her knives" and being dismissed...I could not taste that meatloaf...I could only imagine...going to the website for an update now...bon appetite!

re: Top Chef

I loved it when the chef knocked down Hung for his ice cream. Cauliflower in ice cream, you've got to be kidding me. At this point, he is only kept around because other than Howie, he's the only controversial one left. What really annoys me is when in almost every episode he insults the other contestants with 'My monkey could...'. Well, bring your monkey on, because he'd beat you in every challenge.

I was surprised when I found out C.J. is 'only' 6'8'', I thought he was at least 7'. I was judging his size from the other male contestants, who must be short. I like C.J. and hope he does well. His personality isn't as big as some of the other chefs, but neither was Harold's.

Interesting article on the Bravo reality shows in the Aug. 13 issue of New York Magazine.

Tom Colicchio says that the first two seasons of Top Chef were more reality television than cooking shows (cites Mikey who made his one good dish while high on vicodin as example), though this season is more about talent.

He also states that the producers don't try to influence his judging - and that he was ultimately responsible for Sam's elimination in season two over Padma's objections.

I'm friends with the person that one of those two finalists ended up replacing at the last minute when said person got tapped for their own television show instead. And I know the other finalist as well.
