Where do you get specialty foods and ingredients
Where I live, there are no stores in a convenient driving distance to get specialty foods and ingredients (foie gras, truffles (fresh!), even duck is difficult to find). I therefore end up picking things up while traveling but haven't found a great source online (reasonable prices and shipping times). Suggestions?

There's a store in Chicago called Fox & Obel...they have just about anything gourmet that one could want.
I don't believe you can purchase online, unfortunately: http://www.fox-obel.com/

I'm lucky that I have yet to be able to find an ingredient I can't get either at home or around where I work (manhattan).
Try amazon.com, they have a ton of hard to find foods depending on the season (summer not so many, shipping and all that) they get from grocery stores in New York.
But things like duck, truffles, etc are available locally, duck in the supermarkets at good prices and farmer's markets, truffles gourmet stores, but certainly not inexpensive.

Thanks for the tips. I'm familiar with D'Artagnan and order from them once in a while but will be looking into the others the next time I need some stuff.
On a side note, D'Artagnan used to have a restaurant in Manhattan that they shut down a few years ago. They sort of specialized in unique foie gras preparations ^
