Khai Tri's a tiny bookstore on Avenue d'Ivry in the 13th, down the street from Paris Store and Tang Freres.

This morning heading out to the Banff Springs golf course.. I had a bagel breakfast sandwich..

I've been eating this for a long time, and really like the chewiness of the bagel on the sandwich bun.. but have moved onto flatbreads because it doesn't have the yeast..

I had a French Dip last Saturday which reminded me exactly why I love them so much. Excellent beef, melted cheese, high quality bread, delicious au jus. Probably in my top 3 favorite hot sandwiches.

Since the thread veered into off topic and bad sandwiches what is the fascination with Earl of Sandwich chain in the US by the Disney fan base? Any time I found myself there in MCO or LAS it was like licking a slab of salt. The UK chains EAT and Pret and Apostrophe make excellent fast-food sandwiches. That place brings in crowds who wait in line 30 minutes for oversalted uninspired food.

A tri-tip sandwich, particularly one from R-Country Market in Los Olivos, CA...for $9.99, a long roll is piled high with thinly-sliced, rare & juicy freshly BBQ'd beef and served with salsa, BBQ sauce, chips and a drink on the patio--and it's easily big enough to share. The perfect tummy liner for all the ensuing wine tasting in pinot/syrah country.

I don't know, but there's one coming to midtown Manhattan soon. 52nd St. between 5th & 6th (much closer to 6th, though). I'll offer up a report/review when they open and if I can get into the place.

took Mrs Sweet Willie to Phillipe's this past Saturday, I had the exact sandwich you mention (which is what I get most every time I go to Phillipe's), it was excellent as usual.

we showed up ~11:45am, lines were insane by the time we left 30 minutes later.

Anybody try the Montreal Smoked meat at Costco?

I don't care how bad it is for me, a good meatball sub with melted provolone and Parmesan cheese on Italian bread (with the sesame seeds) cannot be beaten.

I tried Earl of Sandwich last week. Not bad. I had the Full Montagu. Overall, I thought it was fine. The line was long, but I was in and out within 10 minutes, maybe less. The ordering process moves quickly. The preparation and pick-up takes most of the time. Since all of the sandwiches are hot, that adds to the waiting time.

I'd go back, but I can't say that it was the best sandwich I ever ate.

not yet but now that I know they have it, I'll give it a shot ! If only Costco would stock Montreal bagels, best in N America (sorry NYC).

Yes, so tired of "Wonder Bread" bagels. A bagel is not supposed to be a big fluffy roll with a hole in it. :(

Costco fast food, only has 5 or 6 menu items.. and is different in the States and Canada..

I personally like the US Costco menu better.. the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches are in the Canadian Costcos that I see..

I'm due for a Costco trip soon for TP and paper towels. I'll look for it.

My favorite sandwich right now is probably the Cuban. I eat a few every time I visit family in South Florida.
