Nothing wrong with a good ol' Tony's pizza once in awhile

I have found the Schwan's frozen pizzas to be excellent. I just picked some up today. They have a deal where you get 3 of them for 9.99.

I was told they make Tony's pizza too. The company that makes the Schwan's pizza.

For something as dirt cheap as these can sometimes be, Tony's isn't half bad.

^

Another cheapie that's pretty good is the four cheese Cub Foods store brand. Can't get 'em here any more since Cub left our market.

My understanding is that Schwan's, Red Baron, and Tony's pizzas are all the same.

On a side note, I haven't seen a Schwan's truck in forever...

with all due respect, that's an oximoron...

I don't mind the CM brand pizzas too much. The one with apples is pretty tasty, too, but I like the zing of the four cheese best. I use them as a side dish occasionally, replacing bread.

The only freezer pizza I ever buy to use as a pizza are Amy's cheeseless veggie pizza. The sauce has a nice flavor, and they are a treat for our milk-allergic son. :)

I see one on my street fairly regularly now, and the local warehouse is just a few miles away. Can't imagine getting anything from them, though.

Another brand to add to the list: Freschetta. Not all the same, necessarily, but Schwan is the parent company that makes/sells those brands. http://www.freschetta.com/ http://www.redbaron.com/ (It's noted right at the bottom.) The stuff they sell through the delivery service isn't branded with these names, but if you take a peek they do appear to have similar products (rising crust pizza, etc.) http://www.schwans.com/ Also seems expensive compared to getting them on sale at the supermarket.

Its been a while since I've had a Red Baron, but it was definitely different than Tony's. Can't speak to Schwan's. I've never had one, but still I do see their trucks every now and then....usually when I'm stuck behind one! :D

There's this BBQ Chicken Lean Cuisine pizza that's really good. It's almost like the one from Schlotzky's Deli.

re: pizza

Trader Joe's 'margerita-style' pizza is great (mozzarella, fresh sliced tomato, and dried tomato, no sauce). You buy them fresh, but they freeze very well. The Pizzera Uno's personal-sized frozen pizzas are good, but kind of heavy.
