Look, we all know fresh-baked restaurant or home-made pizza is the best. That's a given. If you don't like frozen pizza, that's perfectly understandable and okay. But with all due respect, why participate in this conversation?

The question here is about the best frozen pizza. We have a few locally-made frozen pizza choices in the Chicago-Milwaukee area that are pretty decent (at least for the genre). As for the national macro-brands, I'd vote for Tombstone thin crust (as opposed to orignal).

CPK is ok, Palermo (made in Milwaukee of all places) is pretty decent. I like the DiGiorno rising crust.

If I'm hungry enough, I'll eat some of the ones with a crust that rises or Stouffers. I can't explain it, but I can also eat those little bagel pizzas.

I love a good pizza margherita. I tried CPK frozen. It was one of the worst pizzas I have ever eaten (or tried to eat). In college, we used to go to the "County Line" bar and get a Tombstone frozen pizza - a little burnt around the edges. It wasn't bad, but have never recaptured that taste with any Tombstone since.

The only decent frozen pizza I have had in recent years was from Lou Malnati's in Chicago.

I think Tombstone is gross - the crust is so dry I gag on it.

I probably haven't tried more than 2 varieties of CPK (one was chicken, the other cheese), so I base my opinion on those. It's possible I wouldn't like the others.

My wife and I absolutely love Freschetta frozen pizzas.

we've given up getting carry out or delivery and will go for a freschetta every time!

DiGiornos is great. I enjoy one now and then

Healthy Choice is awful. I regret trying it.

Mama Cozzi thin crust extra cheese (Aldi stores in the USA).

In the realm of frozen pizzas I have found that Tombstones are okay. I have also found some Home Run Inn pizzas lately at Aldi that are pretty good. I would have to rule out the 89 cent Genos things though. And as BamaVol correctly pointed out - you should not call them pizzas.

Another vote for Totinos, can't beat the price. I just add a little extra cheese on top. I eat about 5 a week.

HEB's Central Market makes a very good, 4-cheese, wood-fired pizza. But, you won't find it aywhere else.

We keep one in the freezer and add ham and fresh tomatoes for emergency fixes!

I second the vote for Palermo's. Super thin, crisp crust. The Margarita is actually quite good as far as frozen pizzas go. I buy a package of three at Costco for like $8. Good value.

I'm glad to see some other Totinos fans out there! I love it extra crispy. My husband can't stand it, but my three year old can :)

I also like the Lean Cuisine French Bread Cheese Pizza. I haven't had a real Stouffer's French Bread Pizza since college so I tell myself the Lean Cuisine tastes the same ;)

DiGiorno is my only choice.

terpfan101 Nov 3, 2006 11:46 am

haha cool topic.

I think the CPK barbeque chicken pizza is great. Tastes almost as good as if you got it in the restaurant.

Freshetta's pizzas are good too. Oh and my mom once bought one from Costco...it was pretty good, can't remember the brand but it was either their own or some small company. Other than that there aren't many frozen pizzas I like.

Not a frozen food person, but I've heard a few brands of Pizzas sold by Costco
are pretty good.

Just a word of mouth.. never had em. (or didnt know they were frozen)
