The Mexican restaurant in the SFO UA International Terminal, not good at all. However there is a great sandwich/deli outlet in the same terminal, they have prepared sandwiches which are nice but will prepare a fresh made one for you, all kinds of bread, cheeses meats etc. Also very good salads and other choice goodies. Always take one of their sandwiches on the plane. In fact an FA coming by serving dinner wanted to know where the sandwich was from it looked so good to her.

That's Andale Taqueria, which closed in Palo Alto. Still open in Los Gatos AFAIK. It started out years ago as quite good and then slowly went down and down and down.....

Gallaghers Steak House in EWR. The prices are obscene, and the two times I've eaten there, the steaks were charred black and hard (literally bitter charcoal) on the outside and cold in the middle. Service is also extremely slow and unreliable.

Refused to pay for my second meal, since I couldn't even eat it. Was pretty obvious from the waitress's reaction that this wasn't the first time.

Would rather chew off my own eyebrows than eat there again.

By the way, are there any Steak & Shakes inside security at any major US hubs? Would happily reroute my next ex-EU just to get a Steak & Shake meal....

God, I miss it.

I had a perfectly respectable steak there, done pretty much to order,
but the creamed spinach ...

I wouldn't put it in my bottom ten, or my top ten, for that matter, though I'd
have a hard time compiling a top ten.

I think I'd have to put it in my bottom 10 even if the steaks were acceptable on the simple issue of price. A ribeye there is $45. For less, I can have the one of the best ribeye steaks in London with a side of grilled bone marrow. When it's cheaper to eat out in London, you know there's a problem...

Wolfgang Puck Express at IND airport.. WORST service ever. Just left the restaurant since I didn't get my food for an hour. Was patient and waited but didn't receive an apology as well.

Chez Gerard T3 at LHR - Nothing like the beautiful sister restaurant at Coventry Garden.

Oh, and the restaurant/bar at Kona Keahole is pretty bad, too.

I think one of the worst airport restaurants was in the Mazatlan, MX airport. There is one restaurant that serves burgers, sandwiches and ribs. Not a 3 star but comparable to Crapplebees. Anyways the wait was a godawful 1hr before we got a menu, the food another hour, wait to pay another 30. Good thing it was a free meal (from airline) and my flight outta there was on a crazy delay or else I would have spent the time wasted going back to Mazatlan to catch a few more rays on the beach with a good meal. What are some of your worsts?

Coffee shop at Frankfurt.....$8 pot of tea.

The Pappasito's at IAH was horrible the last time I ate there. Which is unfortunate since Pappasito's is my all time favorite restaurant.

I ordered the combo beef/chicken fajitas. The tortillas were rock hard, once I finally gained enough strength to wrap it around the cold and soggy meat, a large crack formed along the bottom letting the meat fall out. The cheese was almost frozen and the beans were disgusting. To top it all, they give you half the portion compared to the actual restaurants, but still charge you the same amount ~$14.

I think that this is a problem with several airport places that are branches of in-town restaurants. Essentially, they pre-cook the food at some central kitchen (commissary), then chill it and reheat it at the airport location. This process, of course, does not do the food any favors.

Pretty much anything in CLT is bad, whether it's the sit down restaurant or the fast food places. One very good restaurant is Wings Bar & Grill in EUG. It's right next to the rental car desks. I was surprised at how good it was for an airport restaurant. My partner and I decided to have dinner there after a flight instead of going to a place in our neighborhood later.

so many choices...so little time :D

Todd English's Bonfire at JFK terminal 2, just below the Delta Sky Club. Was stupid enough to leave the lounge after arriving from Europe to have an "American quality burger".

Slow, disinterested service and the food was horrible. Burger was tasteless but the fries topped that, inedible. Whose idea was it to put parmesan cheese on fries anyway? Aargh...Never again.

That is exactly my experience at Todd English's Ozone at BOS terminal B:

Cheddar (not asked for). If I hadn't been in a hurry I'd
have sent this back. The side of Parmesan fries wafted a
stench of cheap grana and were Englished by a few leaves of
stale brownish rosemary.

Red Rock Merlot, a $10-a-bottle extravaganza, was by far
the best part of the meal. They charge $10 or so a glass
for it.

When the bill came (I had to ask twice for it), there it
was in black and white - "medium well."

Hey, Todd English, wherever you are, from you I expect good
solid mediocrity, not this abomination stuff.

Sorry to hear that. At IAH I find the Pappadeaux quite acceptable, though.
