Always take one of their sandwiches on the plane. In fact an FA coming by serving dinner wanted to know where the sandwich was from it looked so good to her.
My worst is the cafeteria on the top floor of Hanoi's No Bai Airport in Vietnam. When I tried to eat there, 90% of what was on the menu was not available. What they give you here is very poor quality - a real disgrace in this country of really good, cooked to order, fresh food. |

I could not believe the prices of food at SFO - mediocre at best and almost nothing made to order.
Ironically, I find the Mexican restaurant Andales in the intl terminal to be better than most choices there. |
Most airports are full of fast food and national chain restaurants. Seldom do you see an old stlye airport resturaunt.

How far back are you going for that "old style airport restaurant"? 20 years ago the food was all generic, sometimes the same vendor had a contract for the entire airport. Of course there were some exceptions (I seem to remember a good sit down restaurant in GSP back then, I think) but in general the food choices are much better now.
And yes, I know how much chains are detested in DiningBuzz. :D |
There are too many ties for "worst". I'll exclude chains:
Vientiane, Laos serious disease potential- only one resturant Sana'a, Yemen The only possibility worse is to eat on board Yemenia after those two everything becomes a blur, and the absence of good toilets makes it worse. Almost the entire US falls into the same category since there are so many bad places. I specifically do not include ATL, DCA and SFO in my general disdain for US airport food. |
Airport meals at JFK and LAX have been exactly what you'd expect - microwaved this and that. Not horrific, and no surly service. No food poisoning. The only time I've gotten food poisoning was at a local restaurant that was supposed high end; I was not the only one. Something about undercooked or improper seafood - I was too sick to pay attention to the news reports.
Obviously, restaurants with a captive audience don't have to care about quality. |
I think its fair to say that most fast food dining establishments in airports are rubbish. Event the chain restaurants are garbage as well.
