Organic wineries?

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of organic vintners?

I tried some Heller Estate wines a few weeks ago, and I have to say, I was very impressed. Not only are the wines organic, but they invite their wine club members to participate in the ladybug release (great for kids!) for pest control, and supposedly they have cultivated the vines so that very little watering is needed beyond the coastal fog. Would love to hear your thoughts on other wines made from organically-grown grapes.

Have you tried Frog's Leap? They are 100% organic. Some of my favorite Zinfandel comes from them.

Yes - Organic Kitchen do.

You can also check out Random Valley which IMHO is the best organic winery in Australia.

If you want to buy organic wine from Australia, Export 61 have a great range too

Almost every great vineyard around the world is organic -- it is the traditional way of making wine, and done not to be organic, but to foster better quality. Most are not certified organic. My own opinion is that for wine organic certification is totally meaningless and at best a marketing ploy, at worst a con. Of course the bulk wines are not organic and have never been, perhaps there is a market for cheap wine that is organic. The 3 buck version of 2 buck chuck.

Thanks for the links! Very helpful.

Funny about the three buck Chuck. In CA, it's 2 bucks, but on the East Coast, it's 3 bucks. So maybe the organic wine would need to be 4 bucks?

There are actually many organic/biodynamic vineyards out there. There are, however, very few true organic wines. This is because sulfites are added to nearly every wine as a preservative - negating the organic rating. Only preservative free wines can be organic.
