I honestly cant remember. They were advertising like crazy 10 or 15 years ago but I havent heard a lot about them recently.

Sure, some are a bit better or worse but with the exception noted above most are really excellent.

I have it on good authority that the best bagels are from Queens anyway
I was being sarcastic with dhammer, not suggesting that WP has good bagels. I'm pretty sure he understood. Sorry for the inside joke that others may not have caught.

Is a pletzlach the same as a bialy, onion or otherwise?

I found this:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/01/dining/01HANU.html

Pletzel is a flat roll, of which there were about 18 varieties in Poland according to Der Oytser Fun der Yidisher Shprakh (Thesaurus of the Yiddish Language) by Nahum Stutchkoff, published by the Yivo Institute in 1950. Like the bialy, a form of pletzel from Bialystok, her tzibele pletzel (onion pletzel) is studded with onions and poppy seeds, but it is flatter than the bialy and made from a sweet dough formed into a round, rolled out very thin and then pricked with a fork.

A larger pletzel, called an onion board in this country, can be bought at stores like Kossar's and Zabar's in New York. Often slathered with goose fat, pletzlach (the plural) were a specialty of Jewish bakers in Zamosc and other cities, sold hot from pushcarts with bagels.

Nope. Didn't catch it. Sorry

Truth be told, I've never been to White Plains.

Thumbs up

Sounds mouth watering, but it could have been much nice if you have shared an image of it.

There are a few brands of them out there, Rolled Gold has them, and I know a few other local chip places seem to have some shelve space in the local stores.

We've had them in the UK for a few years ... and we enjoy them regularly.
