Chipotle = Moe's = Qdoba = Panchero's = Freebird = Baja Fresh = Uno Mas = <Chain Burrito Place Name Here>
I swear "burrito place" has become a fast-food genre like "burger place" or "chicken place." Anyway, I've had all of the above, and they're basically the same, with regional or personal taste differences. For instance, I love love love Moe's in Florida, where the simmered pork has a great Cuban flavor...but it's only okay anywhere else. Going wayyy back to the original post -- Uno Mas in SJC Terminal B is pretty good PHL has "Burrito Elito" and "Cerrito Burrito", but I haven't tried either. (Ahem) Sorry, carry on... |
I'll admit to a soft spot for the largely Florida-based Tijuana Flats. They are horribly inauthentic (buffalo chicken burrito, anyone?) but generally quite tasty.

Toronto Pearson Int'l Airport YYZ Union Pearson Express UPX to Downtown Chipotle
Not quite "at the airport", but there is a Chipotle next to (just west of) Union Station in downtown Toronto (it's been there for a few years now)... so if you're doing a somewhat lengthy enough layover/connection at YYZ, you can hop on the Union Pearson Express (UPX) train to Union Station and walk over... if you have a craving. :)

I was sad to find out that the chorizo is gone. I went back to my usual sofritas burrito, and it was very tasty.

Qdoba has started selling Impossible fake meat. I had it in my burrito. It was pretty good, but I still prefer the Chipotle sofritas.

Chipotlanes
Back in February, Chipotle announced it was adding drive-thrus: Chipotle has plans to open "a few dozen" Chipotlanes at new locations according to Niccol. "Arguably, it will be the fastest way to get Chipotle — going through the Chipotlane," he said. The drive-thru lanes are supposed to help boost online/digital orders, as well as give the fast casual spot freedom to get creative with different types of stores. In its most recent quarter, the restaurant reported a 65.6% growth in digital sales, which make up 12.9% of the restaurant's overall sales. Putting a modern spin on the traditional fast food drive-thru experience is just one way Niccol has implemented many of the same marketing and overall business tactics he used at Taco Bell, where he served as chief executive officer from 2015 to 2018. These strategies are clear even just in the one year since Niccol transitioned over to Chipotle, which has been trying to revitalize both its reputation and menu since the now infamous food-borne illness outbreak starting in 2015. The focus on takeout, digital orders and overall innovation since Niccol took over the CEO reigns at Chipotle is likely a contributing factor to the restaurant's highest growth in six quarters. Today the Atlanta newspaper reported that the first one (in Georgia) opened: Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its newest Cobb County restaurant with a more convenient option for customers who are short on time. The company on Tuesday, July 9 will open its fast-casual restaurant at 3606 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta featuring its first Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane so patrons can retrieve orders without leaving their cars. |

Just tried the new carne asada. I was quite hopeful because I used to love the steak before they started cooking it in central kitchens. I find that instead of simply reheating the steak, restaurants end up cooking the life out of it. I hoped that restaurants might put a little more care into the carne asada, or that even if they overcooked it, it would still turn out better. I was wrong. Overcooked carne asada is way worse than overcooked steak... chalk-like texture, and the flavor just isn’t good compared to the regular steak seasoning.
I’ll give it another try if I actually see some nice, pink carne asada on the assembly line but first impressions were :td: |
If the carne asada is fresh, it's fine. But, after sitting in the warmer for a bit, it overcooks.

Was running out of time, so I ordered a Chipotle sofritas burrito to go on the way to the airport and put it in my carry-on to eat at the gate. TSA at MCO pulled my bag.
TSA Agent, after opening my bag: Do you seriously have a burrito in here? Yes, he did swab the foil (I joked with him and said I hope the machine's test results say "delicious"), and he also made me open the foil to prove there was a burrito in there. |

Carne asada is back "for a limited time", so I tried one on Wednesday. It was good. Definitely better than their normal steak. However, I'll still stick with the sofritas and save a few bucks.

I think I've had Chipotle twice since my last post. The store closest to my house is not very well run. Two weeks ago, there was a school fundraiser at the location, and they had to shut down the line two hours before closing because they ran out of ingredients.
On Monday... maybe it was the semi-new employee, or maybe Chipotle is saying so, but they were pretty skimpy on the portions (one burrito, two bowls, and a kid's meal). I should try the other location in town and compare. While it's great they finally put quesadillas officially on the menu, it's annoying that it's an app exclusive. |

Great news, I've exclusively ordered via apps for just about everything in the last 14 months so I'll have to check out the quesadilla option.

Am I just being so wrong for not having cmg stock? Is anyone else buying it at 1340?

Wow, I forgot that the thread existed. I'm done with Chipotle. The food is great, but based on how they've been treating me, I don't want to spend any more of my money with them.
My local Chipotles would have minor issues here and there (I'd order for delivery, and would sometimes order a large chips and queso and they'd give me a small bag of chips, or they'd give me a small queso instead of a large, or I'd order chips and guac and they'd either forget the guac or they didn't want to make more so they bagged my order up without the guac, for example). They'd always be "happy to replace the missing side" by giving me a reward for a free chips and guac/queso, which just meant that I'm now on the hook to order from them again in order to use it, rinse and repeat. The final straw was when they messed up big time and failed to correct it. I placed an order for delivery, and when the delivery driver got to the Chipotle, they had already closed because apparently they changed their hours due to COVID and the app had not updated with the new hours yet. So, the driver calls me and tells me that the Chipotle is closed, and that I need to contact wherever I ordered from for a refund. I would have been fine with a full refund, because these things happen. I had ordered directly through the Chipotle app, so I requested a refund from Chipotle. I got a customer service agent who attempted to refund me the wrong amount. I told the agent that it was not what I had paid, and that I had paid <amount> instead. The agent then lied and said "my mistake, that was a typo, you are correct" and then proceeded to refund me the wrong amount anyway. I also asked for my free chips and guac reward to be reinstated. The agent said sure, and said that I'd get it back within 24 hours. 24 hours later, instead of getting the reward back, I got points for the order that I never received, so the agent never cancelled the order and never reinstated the free chips and guac reward. So, I sent in a customer service complaint requesting the correct amount refunded, I don't even care about the chips and guac reward anymore. Guess where the complaint went to? The same customer service agent who refunded me the wrong amount, and was now spamming my email (I received SIX emails in a row containing nonsensical responses) and the agent was playing dumb about the whole issue. So, I contacted Chipotle on Twitter and was told that I would definitely get someone different to look into this. Over a week later, no one contacted me, so I disputed the remaining charge on my credit card, and won the dispute with the customer service contact transcript as proof. |

I tend to order delivery when I am at work, where I can't leave the building. Although I will never order from Chipotle for delivery again, if I'm ever out with friends or something where they decide to go to Chipotle, I won't say no. If I'm in a position where I can just go into a restaurant to order, I'll still go to Chipotle if I can see everything that they're doing so that any mistakes can be corrected before I leave.

I’ve only had CMG on site and not delivery. |

My last app order with Chipotle was skipped and in the completed stack. When I asked, they made the order but didn’t provide the receipt with the store information so a complaint could not be submitted.

Our closest Chipotle is terrible.
We were so excited when they came out with cauliflower rice so we'd have an option other than salad. First issue: with regular rice you normally get two scoops, with cauliflower rice, which you pay extra for, you get a small scoop. Second issue (which kind of negates the first issue), it was so salty and watery that it was inedible. Friends have gotten cauliflower rice from other stores and liked it, but I've seen similar complaints as ours on Chipotle's FB page, so it really depends who makes it. More recent issues: friends got there at 6pm to eat (closes at 10pm) and they were out of brown rice, with no intentions of making more. A few weeks later, similar time, arrive friend gets last scoop of brown rice, husband settles for the last scoop of white rice, 10 people in line behind them got told no rice - they had only just then started making more as they used up the last scoop. Husband also ordered chips and guac. Gets home and discovers chips are only half cooked. Plus his meat was almost all fat, no meat. We no longer go to that location. |

if you want to complain, just provide the app screenshot and store location to CMG. Exact details can be internally traced.
since my order was missed but made while I was waiting. No big deal since we had already had diner and this is order was for our son. It is just the fact he had the receipt in his hand while stapling the bag then tossed the receipt. It was a slick move to minimize any complaint. |
I like my local Chipotle so that's where I think lunch will be tomorrow. :)

Before my transfer and promotion in Feb 2020, I used to eat at a Chipotle near my old store at least once a week. One of the staff was a former supervisor of mine at MIA for Supershuttle, and when she saw me entering the restaurant, she started to make my order before my turn as it was always the same. This was before I could order through the app. I think I have had Chipotle only once since then. There is a place near my current location called Waco Taco that has the same concept, and I find the quality to be much better, so I usually will have lunch there once a week if it is in the late afternoon.

We needed a quick bite to eat after spending the morning at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The Chipotle nearby hit the spot. They were generous with their portions in my burrito and the family's bowls; however, they did charge an extra quarter for the double-wrapped burrito.

My local Chipotle has a sign on the door. "This is to advise you that there are no quesadillas at this location." :(

Until Chipotle invests in a dedicated heated press for quesadillas (like Qdoba has), very few locations will want to make them. |

Anyone tried the brisket? As a lover of BBQ I am intrigued but kind of expecting a train wreck…
