Good, reasonable steak places in Houston?
We'll be in Houston over Mother's Day weekend for my son's college graduation. Can anybody recommend a good and reasonably priced steak house for dinner? We'll be 7 going out and hence, my requirement for "reasonable." I did a search in this forum and could not find any specific thread regarding Houston steak houses. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

A pretty good website to read up on Houston restaurants is b4-u-eat.com. I've linked the steak category here.
Saltgrass (owned by Landry's) is pretty good with numerous locations around town. Although I've never been, I believe Texas Land & Cattle is comparable (maybe a slight step up).
Taste of Texas is pretty popular and is a local institution. It's the type of place where you pick out your steak (they use a numbered metal disk). It's a la carte and I think a little pricey.
I used to like C & H (owned by the Pappas family) but I guess it's now called Pappas Grill (menu).
What part of town are you staying in? ToT is on the west side (I-10 & the Beltway). Pappas Grill is on the southwest side.

My pleasure. I was just reading the reviews on Texas L & C and they're quite favorable. The nearest one to the Galleria would be the one of Katy Freeway (I-10). My own experience with Saltgrass is that it's not the same since Landry's bought it. The reviews on b4-u-eat aren't that favorable either. But there is one pretty close to the Galleria (heading south on 610).
There's a REAL good cajun restaurant just inside the Loop on Richmond (Galleria area) called Bayou City Seafood n' Pasta. It doesn't look like much on the outside but I have always had consistently good food (etoufee, fried crawfish/oysters, anything) there. A buddy of mine was from Morgan City, LA and that was his favorite cajun place in Houston.
