That being said, Firehouse Subs is my new favorite place. They emphasize the quality of their meat and they pile it on an inch thick. Their subs are steamed, so they're still hot while the bread is still soft. However unless you live in Florida or Georgia you'll have a hard time finding one. A close second would be Jason's Deli. It is a favorite lunch spot of many people I know. Plus they have the awesome salad bar. ^ If I can't get to any of those, it's Quizno's or even Publix. I'm a big fan of Jason's Deli and they deliver!! :) ^ We ordered in for lunch a few times at the office when the weather was crappy. And a Firehouse Subs just opened here in NC, right across the street from Jason's Deli. I'll have to give them a try soon. |
Subway's chicken breast meat makes me gassy.
Gassy nymphs are never a good thing. I never eat there anymore. I will eat at Quizno's or Backyard Burger for a quick sandwich though! Hawaiian Chicken...mmmm.... |
Ugh. I hate it when Subway doesn't get your order right. 2/3 of my experiences with subway have been pretty bad.

Subway in london seems much much nicer then in the US, cant really figure out why
|
I go to Subway when I have a twofer coupon.
But, I remember with affection going to a Subway near Windsor Castle years ago after a couple of weeks in England. As we started eating, my friend and I both remarked: "Hey, this has some taste." Not like English food at all. :) |
I can tolerate Subway but the one sandwich I look forward to eating is their carne asada which I can get in Mailbu and and east Santa Barbara but has been cancelled in other Santa Barbara neigborhoods.

Yuck! Don't like Subway. I much prefer Quiznos! I also used to like Silver Mine Subs in Colorado. They would deliver, even quite late at night.

Quiznos sucks..... every time i have been there....i break a tooth on that so called toasted bun. bricks are softer..!!!! i gave up on them.. its subway or blimbeys now !!! |
Quiznos is best, Subway makes a very weak effort at toasting their subs.
|
Actually, their best sandwich ever was the limited-time Carnitas sandwich, with shredded pork, cilantro, and onions. I visited Subway quite a few times a month when they had it.
Since it's been gone, I've been to Subway exactly 0 times in the past 1 1/2 years. To me, Togo's > Quizno's > ??? > Subway. |
It's been years since I've passed over the threshold of a Subway. I still like a good sandwich and something on a sub roll keeps the stomach from growling until dinnertime.
I don't go often anymore but current chain sub shops I will eat from include Jimmy John's, Mama Goldbergs, and Jersey Mike's. Quizno's has gone downhill. Their subs appear smaller and less full. |

I like it about once a year, but have to say that shredded pork sandwich mentioned in the previous comment (9 years ago!) sounds pretty good. |
Disliked it when I could eat bread but as they don't have anything on the menu which I can actually eat, it's now firmly off the agenda

We like Subway because (most) stores are really good at addressing Miss Swede's food allergies. (Most) stores are more than happy to get a new knife or wash the existing one, change out their gloves, and use a salad container to prepare her sandwich in. Jersey Mike's uses the same slicer for their meats and cheeses, so that's an instant deal breaker there. I've heard that JJ's is good with food allergies. I might take her there one day soon. |

IIRC, they filed for Chapter 11 a few years ago. They won't be around much longer.
