I couldn't agree more.

Being based in Florida Publix subs are a little more expensive but very tasty, but the ordering takes a little long with ordering so I either call ahead or order it online for pick up.

Although that calculator just ruined it for me. I mean I knew I wasn't ordering anything that healthy but the numbers are scary enough that I will have to change up my regular order.

Footlong Italian Herbs & Cheese
Italian BMT with Provolone Cheese
Black Olives, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion
Oil & Vinegar and Light Mayo

Rings up at 1180 Calories and 67 grams of fat. Seriously better off eating a big mac at that point.

Yikes!

My go to is a 12" turkey on italian white. No cheese, no mayo just a bunch of veggies with honey mustard toasted. Probably 600 calories and about 14 gm of fat and feel very satisfied. A little different than than grease bomb above!

Carrot? That's something I've never seen at Subway in the US or even Europe. This probably something Australia only.

I have never in my life heard of carrot on a sandwich.
I do put coleslaw on pulled pork or pastrami or corned beef and there are carrots in slaw but that's different. Leave it to the Aussies--home of vegemite.

Don't forget about England's culinary contribution to the world: equally disgusting marmite!

"England's culinary contribution" is a bit of an oxymoron.
I had forgotten about marmite. Blech. Yuck. I think I need to go brush my teeth now. :p

When I lived in New York going to Subway was a joke. There were half a dozen sandwich places within a 2 block radius, and they were all better. I think I ate there twice in 2 years. Both times were on holidays when all the family-run restaurants were closed.

Since moving away from the northeast, though, Subway has become one of my go-to restaurants in the fast food category. They're not great, they're not even consistent, but I find them more appealing than most fast food burgers, tacos, steam-tray stir-fry, etc.

Our local grocery store offers made to order subs, but they are usually at least $2-$3 more than Subway.

It's around the same price difference for me as well.

Oh yes in Orlando we have good Vietnamese food in a largely Vietnamese area and at their sandwich shop the sandwich has some carrot in it.

But never have I heard of carrots on a western sandwich.

Haha. Well it does taste good  although running it through the calculator kind of ruined that.

That is true! Although I don't think I'd try one from Subway.

We're getting way off topic here unless someone wants to make a beet, okra and lima been sub sandwich and tell us we all should try it.

I have Hindi friends who make veggie subs. Lettuce, tomato, grated carrot & cheddar cheese is pretty good. My Mom would put pickled beets on a fried egg sandwich.
