Sydney Four Points, Darling Harbour: Summer Offer on midweek seafood buffet
$30 seafood buffet lunch; $40 seafood buffet dinner
(Mon-Thurs, booking essential, mention "SUMMER" booking code), until Feb 29.
(My stories of this place are restricted to work Christmas parties - the food was fine...)
Advertised in local media, but booking essential, according to the ad.
FYI it is at the hotel's Corn Exchange Restaurant - t. 9290 4760 / 9290 4816.
I've not tried it for a few years - may be useful to some FTers!

Best BUFFET/SMORGASBORD in the World ?
What's your pick ?
We have some pretty good ones here in Australia. One advantage we have is fresh seafood supply. Whilst i loved the buffets in Vegas (Wynn being my fav), all of the seafood was frozen.

Wow, great question and I can't wait to see the replies! My fave is probably Planet Hollywood's Spice Market in Las Vegas, but I have a hunch there is *much* better out there and will surely want to try some of what will be suggested

The buffets that I make for my friends when they come over are the best in the world. Sizzlin good fresh foods right off the stove or out of the oven, nothing beats it
Served up hot and fresh, 5+ meat choices and top notch quality.

Update for visibility!
This one slipped through the search.
I have a couple more to add from Melbourne, Australia.
- Family buffet at Melbourne Accor
- Senior citizen and disabled diner-friendly buffet en route to Mornington Peninsula
Very interesting, though not Vegas at all.

I'm very fond of the Todai chain, which started in So Cal and is slowly spreading...
An asian-seafood buffet, with roughly 50' of cold seafood & salads, 50' of freshly made sushi & sashimi (and chefs who will make rolls to order), 50' of hot dishes mixing asian and western influances (Lobster Thermidor & Peking Duck), and a small array of fresh fruits and pasteries for desert. The quality is top-notch and it's not the usual "too long on a steam table" food.

My favourite buffet brunch is in The Queen Marry in Long Beach, though I have not been there in a while. I definitely need to go back soon. They have a huge salon where they have the food presented in stations. They have a crepe station, the traditional brunch breakfast food stations as well as ethnic stations ranging from Italian to Mexican to Asian. Plus the best part is the champagne is free flowing. ^^

Not sure if they still have it any more but about 5 years back when I was working in Hong Kong, the Movenpick Marche on the top of the peak had the certain times where they had a pay one price for access to all their stations. Normally, you'd order dishes from various market-style made to order stations and they'd mark your ticket that you carry around with you so you pay a la carte.
Great location/view. Good food. Fun concept.

I remember going there about 25 years ago when I was still a wee lad. In those days it seemed like the buffet itself was 100 feet long (probably a lot shorter) and it seemed like the desert buffet was 30 feet long (probably a bit shorter).
Can anyone confirm that this place is still open? If so, I see a roadtrip in the future

Is there anyone here from RIC that can confirm that the Sunday brunch buffet at the Hotel Jefferson is as good as I remember? I was there for the first time (family lives in RIC) about 20 years ago and I was overwhelmed. I remember the "story" that the "Gone with the Wind" stairway was based on the one at the Jefferson (or maybe was the one from the Jefferson!)

there's a small restaurant in st. louis called astoria european cuisine. it's an all buffet restaurant specializing in russian food -- definitely go with an empty stomach, you'll feel pretty heavy on your way out the door. it's been a long time since i've been, but when i did, it was around $13 for dinner and $8 for lunch.

I can't access your link from work, but I'm assuming it's the bit that I have heard on one of the Sirius comedy stations. It gets repeated a lot and I never tire of it. ^
