It sounds amazing, better and better with each decryption. Alain Ducasse, Masa and Per Se were all recommended to me by the concierge. I checked them all out, but Daniel really sounded the best. It's a pre fix menu at $88 a person. I called the MO like two weeks ago to make the reservations and they said they would call back and confirm, they haven't, so I think I'm going to call the restaurant just to make sure.

I highly recommend calling the restaurant yourself. Though my experience with the MO is 11 months old, they were not on top of anything service-wise. The property itself is pretty good (with some exceptions; I e-mailed the GM a link to my stay report in the luxury hotels forum so if he really wanted to, he could have gotten the hotel up to spec.), but the staff was lacking. Recent posts in the luxury hotels forum don't give me too much confidence. Some, but not too much.

....Bump....
Unfortunately I will neither be staying at the MO NYC or eating at Daniel. I was really looking forward to getting away for the holiday. Anyway, so I called the MO today to make sure they made my dinner reservations for me and my wife, and the concierge gets on the line and I tell her that I would like to confirm the reservation. She told me that Daniel is not open on the 26th, the date that I gave them to reserve for me about two weeks ago. She also claimed to have left a message on my mobile phone. I checked my voice mail and there was no message. Another unsatisfied MO guest, and I didn't even step foot in the door, that's saying something isn't it. I really would have loved to eat at Daniel, but since I live so close from the city, it's not a problem to just go for the day and have dinner. So the trip is canceled. I was so depressed that I called my absolute favorite hotel, Las Ventanas al Paraiso and made reservations for seven nights in the summer. The Mandarin Oriental, however has left a bad taste in my mouth. I can stay that It won't be considered the next time I overnight in Manhattan.
