Great Turkish Restaurant in NY
Found this wonderful Turkish restaurant in the heart of the theater district last week. It's called Divane at 888 8th Avenue. Very reasonable prices, great food, only drawback was a problem getting cocktails. They have an extensive wine list, and they have liquor, but they don't have a real bartender who can make mixed drinks. We had an appetizer, two main courses, one dessert and one coffee and the whole check for two of us was $42.00. ^

Is that a new place? 8th and what? $42 is very reasonable, IMO.
I've been to that Turkish place on the west side of 9th @ 43rd, and there's also a Turkish hole-in-the-wall on the south side of 34th Steet just west of 3rd Ave. (near that Film Cafe on the corner) where you get the BEST kebab sandwiches.

It's on 8th Avenue at 52nd Street. Like I said, not much ambiance, limited menu, but they prepare the food just right, not overcooked like some..and the staff is very friendly. The owner comes to every table and gives you his history. Told us he came from a very wealthy family, got a wonderful education and has been written up several times. Very modest man

Ali Baba also gets my vote. Fortunate to live right near there, so I can attest to consistent high quality of the food. If you're staying nearby, delivery from there would be far better than anything you'll get in room service and for a lot less.
Tried Divane and they were perfectly adequate, but nothing you can't get at Ali Baba, which charges about 20 percent less.
