No, the Country Club: http://wynnlasvegas.com/Restaurants/...ng/CountryClub

SW has great steaks, wine and service, but it's kind of loud and usually too crowded for my taste. And there are only a few tables that I like there (the ones by the window where you can watch the Lake of Dreams shows); many of the other tables are stuck in the back without a good view. Can't really go wrong with either, but on balance I like Country Club better.

Does anyone know STK Steakhouse at the Cosmopolitan in LAS? Is it worth a bite?

MichaelBrinkley Nov 13, 2013 7:08 pm

If you want to taste the best steak house in ASIA, then I would recommend Singapore: Morton’s The Steakhouse.

Besides the delectable taste, you'll experience the best from the moment you sit down, from getting your own dedicated waiter for the night, to the quality and presentation of your steak when served. I'm still craving for it!

Does anybody know an excellent (american) steak house in Tokyo?

Not the best but a good experience and great atmosphere is the Angus Barn in Raleigh. It's the best I've had in the area and it's built like a huge barn (hence the name) with a gorgeous bar. It's a good value too as everything comes with salad or soup and a side and they'll top your steak in a number of different ways. I went this year for my birthday and it was a very enjoyable experience.

Agreed entirely. I grew up on Angus Barn and to this day it continues to be my family's go to place for special events (was down there back in October for my birthday celebration and it's where my Dad proposed to my Mom years ago). Definitely not the "best in the world" but awesome atmosphere, great southern hospitality, great steak, and incredible wine list

Had a great experience recently at The Sycamore Inn - near San Bernadino.

Great steak-better than the typical Ruth's Chris/Mortons, and EXCELLENT oysters!

Add that with the great history and route 66...my kinda joint!

I quite like the Maredo chain of Argentinian steakhouses that are scattered around Berlin.

Thea are good. Like the Block House Steak Houses which are located all over Germany. Of course, they cannot compete with am American Prime steak house.

Back in the day Maredo was much more upscale, whereas today it's just a popular chain for everyone.

You will find quality steakhouses the world over, I don't think any one country stands out as having the "best" ones though.

What's the deal nowadays with US beef, is it all packed with hormones or is that only the cheap stuff that ends up in supermarkets?

I dont know about hormones. I just know that I travelled all around the globe and I visit a prime steakhouse everywhere I am. Of course, you get a good steak everywhere. But in the good old US, they still have the best steak houses in the world. The best steak house I know is the Prime Rib in IAD. I love it! But don't forget to fix coat and tie ;)

And possibly the worst quality meat, hormone-infested and all. I'd be keen to hit more steakhouses in Australia and New Zealand, especially since they have vastly superior beef to begin with. Or loads of top-notch steakhouses around the world that import quality beef from countries like Argentina.

IME, YES. It was worth it.

The Blue Cheese butter bread it spectacular. I had the 10oz Loin Strip which was cooked perfectly. The flavor was outstanding. The Beet salad I had as a starter was quite good too. For sides, we tried the maple carrots (just ok) and a Jalapeno cheesy corn. Everything was top notch.

For 2 people including dessert, we paid about $150 with T&T. I used Foursquare to "check in' and it included a free glass of prosseco to boot :)

Ancien Maestro Nov 18, 2013 11:06 pm

Had lunch a Caesars and its a great local steakhouse with 2 locations in Calgary. Bill was $120 for 2 for a business lunch with tax and tip.

Scampi for appetizer (4 mini lobster tails), Rib Eye with double stuffed potato, wedge salad, cream of mushroom soup for myself. All pretty good.

The "Next" best steakhouse in the world.

FlyMeToTheLooneyBin Jan 2, 2014 3:27 pm

After many great recommendations found in this thread, I tried out El Establo for our last night in Buenos Aires. Wow! The steak (ojo de bife) was superb! It was the best steak that we had there, and easily ranks up there with some of the best steak I've ever had. I wish we had tried it out sooner.

The place looked more like an old pub with fluorescent lights, nothing like what you'd expect from a steakhouse, but the meat was fantastic and the tastes were excellent. Thanks for the great recommendations!

And with the Argentine peso's weakness, my steak came out to $12. I had a nice demi-bottle for also about $12. Our total bill for two people with side (mushrooms with bacon in garlic oil sauce... really really delicious) came out to be $50 after tip.

MikeFromTokyo Jan 2, 2014 3:56 pm

I don't know if it's the best, but The Oak Door at Grand Hyatt Tokyo is certainly my favorite.

Yuengling May 27, 2014 3:28 pm

I need to add Restaurant Bärengasse in Zürich to my list of favorites. Argentinian beef supposedly raised on the owner's ranch.

Speaking of Switzerland, I had dinner at Cafe de Paris in Geneva last night. All they do is steak frites. You sit down they bring you a salad and ask how you want your steak cooked and what you want to drink. Nothing else on the menu. It comes for the table, sliced with a flavored butter on it. They come around periodically offering to top off the fries. It was superb. Pretty reasonably priced for Geneva as well.

I've heard great things, my brother was there with his wife last year and they loved it.

Speaking of steak frites, I went to Rue Cler here in Durham last weekend for brunch and they have steak frites on their menu. It's $24 ($26 if you want eggs) and absolutely phenomenal, probably the best I've had. The restaurant is good too, part bistro, part bakery, so come for begniets at least if you're in the Triangle.

Second that--and certainly now it is the best buy for high quality steak. Anyplace!

Best steak ive had was at a place called Rockpool in Sydney, Australia.

Below is the David Blackmore's dry aged full blood Grade 9 Wagyu sirloin.

I recently had occasion to visit Boston Chops in Boston. I had the best skirt steak I have ever had (previously, it was El Establo in Buenos Aires). Three out of four of us had the skirt steak at the recommendation of the waiter. It comes with unlimited French fries. Everyone had the same opinion as I. I can't speak for any of the other steaks on their menu. The sides were excellent - roasted mushrooms and spicey broccoli. They also had a great dessert - sticky toffee pudding. It's a very attractive room.

Apart from the ones I cook at home (my favorite ;))...

I prefer Ruth's Chris in the US. Consistently good quality steaks and they never let me down. Being from NYC, I also love Peter Luger's. First time I went there I wasn't that impressed, but over time I've started to love their porterhouses. And their bacon strips are excellent as well.

Here in China, everyone seems to pretentious when it comes to steaks and I've had a waiter bring out the steak out well done after I told him I wanted medium rare, he laughed and told me a well done steak is how it's suppose to be like it's my first time at the eating a steak or something.

Have you tried Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse in Shanghai? They have some of the best steak I've eaten when in Shanghai. They will cook a medium rare to a true medium rare.

When in Vegas, I always head over to Vic & Anthony's. On a trip there this past October, they even had an option for a topping of seared foie gras.

In order for a reason:

Bern's in Tampa - Handcut with a 1MM bottle deep cellar
Peter Lugers in Brooklyn -
Prime 112 Miami - bacon strips at the bar while you wait for a table

Another Great Steak House in Houston

Hey All I heard of a great steakhouse in Houston that I want to take my wife to. We both love steak. Its called the Rio Ranch Steak House. They also have some good seafood. Can't wait to try it!!

Longboater Jan 7, 2015 10:52 pm

I'm probably a bit biased as I eat here quite often, but The Palm is without a doubt the best steakhouse chain in the world. From the quality of the steak, to the atmosphere, it is truly a special place, especially for those who are regulars. Morton's has crashed badly after being acquired by Landry's. Ruth's Chris would definitely be my second choice. Bobby Vann's is hit or miss. Last filet I had there was too fatty.

Can you elaborate? I haven't been enough since the acquisition to have a lot of data points. In fact, I think I've been only twice, but I did not notice any significant difference from before the acquisition.

The quality and quantity has gone wayyy down hill. Portions are smaller and quality of filet much tougher. I have always asked for a medium rare filet, instead get medium well.

CMK10 Jan 8, 2015 8:25 am

FWIW, I went to a Morton's in Cleveland back in June and I was pretty unimpressed. In fact, the ahi tuna tacos appetizer was far more memorable than the steak.

Thanks for the insight. I must say I've been to some Landrys restaurants that were supposed to be "great" and have been less than impressed...so I can't say that I'm surprised that Mortons may be following them.

FFlash Jan 9, 2015 2:45 pm

My top 3:
1) Argentina with local friends who know
2) Brazilian barbecues
3) My home country Finland has a restaurant "Pippurimylly" in Turku city which is by far the best I've experienced (3 times) in Nordic countries. Not at all a reputated place, rather a "hidden" exception

I have to agree with Longboater. I've been a Mortons VIP member for a few years, and I dined both pre and post Tilman takeover and the benefits are gone and the food and service have gone way down hill. I honestly don't even know if there is still a VIP program. I mostly frequent the SDF location and the manager usually doesn't even come over to talk anymore.

The only steakhouse chain that still treats you like family is the Palm.

The Palm is by far the best and most consistent of the "chain" steakhouses.

Another late thread for me so I apologize if it has been mentioned but I have to say Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida is the best I have been to.

The dessert room used to look old, now it looks retro.

Elway's (Denver) downtown location is more intimate than the Cherry Creek location, but both have fabulous steaks.

More importantly, since this is FT, Elway's has a location in Denver International, in the center of Concourse B. Try the Boneless Short Rib. It's amazing.
