$2,205.90 (I still have the bill) for a dinner in San Jose at Maggianos for a small group of co-workers. I think it was the wine that added more than $1,000 to the bill ... and I don't even drink.

$450 for 2 - dinner at Masa's in SF at the FT extravaganza - 9 course tasting menu including wine tasting.

6,000 quid for 20 people at the Oriental restaurant at the Dorchester Hotel. We were celebrating a $375 million USD deal, and we figured an additional 10K hit on the expense report wasn't going to be noticed. Mind you, this was a deal where "because you needed to be there ASAP" was considered a good reason to fly Concorde over and over.

Biggest single check I've personally picked up...USD$14,000+. At the same restaurant as the New Years dinner mentioned above, but not the same visit.

Regularly pick up 4 figure dinner bills at team outings - the look on waiters faces when they are pointed to the young lad down the end for payment.

Something over $800 for dinner for four at the Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia. Worth every penny.

I had dinner at Les Ambassadeurs last year. It was splendid, but I didn't have to pay. I was also treated to dinner at Boyer Les Crayers in Reims, France. That came in at around $800, but again, I didn't have to pay.

A little over 1.000 pounds at Quaglino's in London for four people. The food wasn't that expensive so it must have been the wine. I was so jetlagged I actually fell asleep at the table with my head resting against a pillar behind my seat. Until my colleagues woke me up to pay the bill.

Around $850 for 3 (Auberge, Napa Valley -- one of us wasn't drinking or it would have been worse).

I do not like the Crillon, but I do love Les Ambassadeurs

most expensive single meal that I paid for: €2500 + tip at Margaux in Berlin, for a birthday party of 8 or so.

most expensive single meal per person that I paid for: €900 + tip for 2 at Le Pergola in Rome, although €700 of that was for two bottles of wine.
