All while reading this thread, I was remembering my experience there a couple of years ago (must've been new)--delicious! Glad to know that I was getting more or less the real deal--I stopped there with a family member who lives in the area but didn't know whether it was real or just a chain of mediocre places (judging by the taste, I thought the former, but my experience with Cuban food is rather limited).

IIRC, I had the ropa vieja.

Just remembered another unexpected place I found a pretty decent Cuban Sandwich: Walt Disney World. In the Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park, there is a counter service restaurant called the ABC Commissary. A very limited menu with only a handful of items, including the prerequisite burger, but there it was "Cuban Sandwich served with plantain chips." Not too bad either! ^

Well, it is Florida! lol
