How do others feel about posting reviews here?
Posted by: dgolds
I don't know how the rest of you feel about this, but I personally have little interest in wading through reviews encapsulated from other sources, such as Zagat's or the New York Times, where there is no personal opinion ventured by the person who cites the review.
It strikes me that it's not in keeping with the spirit of the board, which is "flyers' places" not "reviewers' places."
What do you all think?
Sorry to bring up something that might be construed as controversial with only my second post...

I don't mind, if a poster adds a Zagat/Michelin/'wahtever-guide' rating at the end of his personal experiences.
Regarding 'tips' from guide books etc, I would propose that just posting links (to where to get more infos) are ok.
Remembering the board-founders original intentions, it is really the most recent personal expieriences we wanted to be posted and less what is in general 'available' on the net.
Am I correct Dorian?, Catman?

No doubt Rudi, that was the initial spirit of the board...but augmenting one's own experiences with a Zagat rating, for instance, is of course great.
dgolds, is that really controversial?!

I just noticed this post.
The reason I thought it would be good to add links to my favorite restaurants is so others could peruse the menu to see if it fit their personal tastes as well as mine. Also makes available correct address and telephone for those who are interested.

In the US, I find dine.com a useful tool.
