I've basically retired at 47 to take care of my parents, but while there are three in the house, I generally cook dinner for those two as I eat grilled poultry on salad greens with avocado Monday-Thursday. If no pandemic, I;d likely have two more adults and two carb-heavy kids over more often. Then again, during breakfast, those four will eat a loaf of bread. I could say more but that is more of an OMNI "Parent's Corner/Talk About Your Siblings and Family" thread.
During the start of the shutdown, Restaurant Depot was open to the public. Did anybody here go? I am not sure if they still are and I really don't have spae now, but it ight be worth a cal lfor some very sweet of you regarding the parents. |
Corky, that’s some serious grill marks on the pizza!
I got a 18” pizza delivered for lunch today, and then this is what I saw when opening the box. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b8c9ea0f8.jpeg |
I saw lamb cutlets were on sale $39.99/kg which is cheap (they used to be so cheap, then the world discovered lamb). I did them tandoori style. The paste was out of a jar but it tasted good. Had it with a salad. I'd had a pide at lunch so avoided the double carb hit.

A medium white clam pizza, a medium pepperoni pizza and a Caesar salad. $70 + tip for delivery, which strikes me as expensive. Hoping these are some killer pizzas.

i should google a clam pizza recipe because I bet it’ll be fine with canned or frozen clams. Actually I’ve always loved the Italian-american staple linguine with clam sauce, both white and red sauce (albeit not together). plus spaghetti and meatballs is a favorite italian-american dish, one I make often. btw I’m guessing your meal was $48 plus $12 in fees/tax and a $10 tip. So maybe it’s not from San Francisco. Is it Amici’s east coast pizza????? $18 per pizza $12 caesar |
Pizza was from Verazzano's in Half Moon Bay. I'd say it was totally worth the $$. I've had Amici's, albeit a few years ago. I think this was better, on another level. High quality ingredients, and the NY style was on point, as the crust had the perfect exterior doneness with a great interior chew.

Anyone have a good recipe for dan dan noodles in the style they're served at the Cathay Noodle Bar? I have no idea if those are traditional dan dan noodles or if they are modified somewhat for the western palate given the mix of travelers on Cathay, but in either case I love those noodles and have been trying to find a recipe to use in an attempt to recreate them at home since I won't be enjoying them at an airport any time soon.
This food and wine article has a picture and talks about them in some detail for anyone unfamiliar: https://www.foodandwine.com/travel/best-airport-food |

Glad you liked it because that sounds very expensive for 2 pies and a salad.

While the grill was heating up, I was told not to trim the full slab into a St. Louis cut, so full ribs this afternoon with smoked corn and vinegar based Cole Slaw.
